  1. Lmao! Let's put it this way. I have not been able to get into my hangar in over a week because the doors are frozen shut. I am building this for a friend so that he can enjoy it over the summer when while I'm deployed.
  2. I like this one too. It has less amp draw than the previous one and has the perfect fit profile for the small cooler I am using.
  3. If I'm not satisfied with the amount of air that is coming out of the flexible hose I attached to the lid, I will definitely get one of these to assist more are to come out Thanks for your suggestion. It will be a nice upgrade.
  4. I bought two 4" fans from EBay for $20 that I will be installing side by side. They are rated at 124CFM max, each. I will gives those a shot and if not convinced I will upgrade to something more powerful.
  5. It's a heater core for a '77 VW Jetta Rabbit. You can find it new on Ebay for $26 bucks.
  6. Another project complete I was looking for prices on a cooling system for the aircraft when flying during the summer, and came across a few models. The few sites that do sell them are rapidly increasing their prices ($500) as demand escalates. Since I can only stretch my pockets so far, I opted to build my own for a friend for $75 bucks. I'm almost done with the assembly and I will post a picture of the final product. If anyone is interested on building their own, just let me know and I will be happy to help a fellow mooniac The cigarette lighter connector has an On/Off push button. I found that one new on ebay for $1.24, shipped.
  7. That's a great idea too. I will incorporate that into the final product
  8. José, I'm not sure about the market for this machine but I'm not looking for profit on this. I'm just making it for personal use and to help out some friends along the way. When it comes to charging people for using some of my abilities I really suck at it because I end up doing everything for free. Maybe when I retire in a few years I will have no choice but to make a profit on some things but for now I would rather build good friendships along the way I'm posted the pics because I would like to collect ideas from the great wealth of knowledge in this forum and test out the product so that I can help anyone else out if they are interested in doing the same. After all, what I love about owning a Mooney the most is having you fellow mooniacs so willing to help each other out. Not only because most of us form a part of the cheap bastard club, but many of us don't have deep pockets like most non owners believe, just because you own a small aircraft Heck, some sports cars are way more expensive to own than some amazing mooneys.
  9. The prototype is made of CPVC but once I get everything fitted a few times I am planning to do all the final cuts out of metal tubing. It's just cheaper that way while I have to adjust my cuts You make a good point on grounding everything. I will make sure it is done correctly; )
  10. I considered some of those things you listed when I searched for the appropriate product. From what I gathered, as long as I don't swallow I don't swallow or bathe in the product I should be safe. Also, it has a flash point of >160 degrees. I will still take any precautions such as grounding and completely de-fueling the aircraft.
  11. Do you remember if the sprinkler heads were made of plastic? If the were, then maybe I can get away with a bilge pump that I can place inside the sump. As far as the paint issue goes i will try to figure out if I can mask in such way that the outer skin is protected. Any suggestions?
  12. This is what I have so far for my prototype. It has no holes drilled or nozzles installed at this time. I put it toghether with quick disconnects so that I can assemble and disassemble inside the tank.
  13. That's a genius idea I didn't even know of the existence of such pump for fluid. I will definitely look into this. That would definitely fix my concern for which electric pump pressure would work for my setup. Do you have a good one in mind that would sell for about 100 bucks or so?
  14. I already though about the clogging issue, which is why I plan to add a screen on the return side and I also plan to use full cone spiral nozzles that have larger openings to prevent clogging. I'm sure there's a lot more than removing sealant to the task; nevertheless, I love to build things and tinker around I am also currently building an Artic Air Cooler for about 75 bucks for a friend. If you guys want pics just let me know.
  15. Dan, it is my honor to serve this wonderful country
  16. I am doing research on the process for sealant removal from the fuel tanks and it looks like everyone agrees that it is a huge PIA. This made me dig deeper on to what possible solutions the big companies such as "Weep no more" and others are doing to make their lives easier at such a task. It seems that they use home built system, in which no pictures are displayed, that cycles fluid through the tank and back to its source for many hours until all of the sealant is dissolved. This is by no means something I will be doing right now because I will be deployed soon and have no time for such a task; however, I do love tinkering around and building things from scratch whenever I get a chance. That being said I came up with recirculation system that is placed inside the tank and can do what I described. I have most of the parts assembled but still waiting on some nozzles from China that I need to incorporate. Once tested out I will let you guys know how it went. Does anyone have any ideas that I can use that I have not thought off yet? Maybe someone out there made one already and would like to share some pics and ideas
  17. Alan, Let me know next time you get a set of these
  18. Finally got my cables in directly from Mooney I is also nice to have knobs that are properly colored It took and extra week due to WX. Funny to se that Mooney doesn't even bother to take the McFarlane stickers off, lol! I did notice that the prop cable is smooth as butter
  19. I have a UBG-16 installed that I would like to have on its own 5 amp circuit braker and would like to add a dimmer that uses a 1 amp CB. Can someone enlighten me as to where I can find these at cheap bastard pricing for a 68C? I checked Spruce and they start at 30 bucks. Also, Spruce had different flavors to choose from. Can someone tell me which type is appropriate for the 68C?
  20. I found mine on ebay super cheap. http://www.ebay.com/itm/STITCHED-HEADLINER-WINDLACE-FORD-FALCON-CHRYSLER-GM-CHEVROLET-GREY-GRAY-/121566243819?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c4de9abeb
  21. It is used as a tail weight if you jack the aircraft without an engine hoist or as a stand if you use an engine hoist. Below is a picture but review earlier posts on this thread and you will see my other pics. the engine hoist method is rock solid.
  22. The threaded rods are placed on the bottom of a large aluminum bucket an then filled with cement for weight. When the cement dries, the rods serve as anchors inside the cement.
  23. I purchased my tail stand for use during my annual but after looking at mine I was able to replicate it for a friend and only spent 30 bucks in materials
  24. Ebay has new ones listed for 100 bucks all the time.
  25. Certainly did. It was complied with during two annuals ago.
