  1. Mine is the one with the lip and mounted on the inside.
  2. While conducting preflight today I noticed a missing inspection cover under my right wing (closest to wing root and rear). Does anyone have an extra one from an aircraft being parted out? Are all these plates the same size for different Mooneys? Call me 334-479-6220
  3. Awesome! Thank you guys for all the knowledge that you bring to the table. In that case I will cancel the W 100 order and keep the W80 during the winter.
  4. Has anyone using W 80 out there noticed any increase in operating temperatures?
  5. My 68C has a O-360A1D and I will be changing the oil soon. It currently has Aeroshell W 100 but I would like to use W 100 plus for the next oil change. I ordered the oil from Aircraftspruce.com but ordered W 80 plus by mistake. Can anyone enlighten me on whether I could use the W 80 plus or not? Returning it would set me back for shipping and handling but I rather use the right type.
  6. Any chance it might have a BI-805?
  7. Wow, that's insane! I went through the same thing when I was trying to buy my Mooney. Over 14 scammers tried to rip me off and they all used the same tactics and stories.
  8. I can't wait. I just hate that S-tec is like the apple computers of autopilots. It's going to cost me around 10k to have it installed legally. I am debating if I should wait for 2016s new law on noncertified avionics to pass. If it does, I rather buy a garmin G3X with autopilot for under 8k.
  9. So I finally got word back from the manufacturere and they confirmed that the demo version is practically junk. In other words, don't be lured to purchase this product. Here is the email response: Thank you for contacting BendixKing by Honeywell! Hello Isaac, I have been informed that there isn't anything in place to change the existing Demo software in these units to Production software. I have also been informed that there is not any kind of program in place to exchange the Demo units out for Production units. Regards, Gregory Meissner BendixKing Technical Support
  10. Well you already talk smack about other airframes. In my opinion you already have the personality of an army aviator Hopefully you're not trying to fly the 58. They will be gone out of the inventory in two years so all that is left for guns is the Apache who always begs the 47s to slow down for them. As for the 60 goes, have fun being a taxi in Afghanistan because at 6400 MSL on the ground..... enough said
  11. I don't know but if I was to buy something that expensive it would have to be through PayPal because they will hold the money for about 30 days or so that I can inspect the merchandise and if it's not good they won't pay the seller until resolved.
  12. It was a new add on my FB feeds. It looks like each one of their ACTUAL had two, so who knows? They might still have some. Otherwise, they would not be paying for advertisement.
  13. You must be a gun guy phillip. Lol! I love driving the hooker. I was a Huey guy before that
  14. I should have accepted moving to Fort Bliss when they offered it to me
  15. Thanks for the advice fellow mooniacs. As usual you guys have made a hard decision easier for me to make Maybe I should continue to feed the piggy bank to have the S-tec 60-2 autopilot I have sitting in a box installed. That's about a 10k ordeal and I would rather sink that cash into paying off the airplane first. Maybe then I could have it installed, unless a miracle happens and Brittain calls me to let me know I am next in line for their system. Lol!
  16. I'm based out of KCKV.
  17. From what I have read during research running the engine one the ground is not enough to burn all the moisture in the oil; moreover, said moisture would rapidly spread corrosion over all internal components. I have a friend who is willing to fly it for me but he doesn't have much retract experience and I would hate for that to become an insurance claim. As some of you have suggested, I think the best option is to find a local CFI who is willing to fly it for me if I cannot find the dehumidifier system.
  18. Hey guys, I will be deploying again in a few months and I am starting to think about aircraft storage. At first I thought about pickling the engine but after some research I realized it would do me no good because the preservatives would have to be replaced every so often. I found a system that seems promising. The link is below. Can anyone give me their two cents? http://generalaviationnews.com/2014/09/25/innovators-keeping-engines-healthy/
  19. Here you go fellow mooniacs. I found this add with a good deal and thought you guys should know. Apparently the company is upgrading their fleet to 650s and are selling their 430s. I wish I could jump in on it but I'm saving up for an autopilot first. http://www.airplanemart.com/part-for-sale/Aircraft-Avionics--Instruments/Garmin-GNS-430W-P-N-011-01060-00/5186/
  20. Which is why I am waiting to hear back from the manufacturer. A representative there is going to find out if they have the ability to convert it to flight mode.
  21. The one I found was listed for 4k but it was a demo version. I called King and I am waiting to hear back from them to find out if it can be converted to flight mode. Everything required to run the system is embedded in the box, which lead me to believe that the installation should not be that bad. The downside is that the subcontractor was bought out and the project was dropped. I might just continue to feed the piggy bank and try to find an Aspen at a bargain.
  22. Has anyone seen an installation of a KFD-840 on a Mooney? I was looking through a list of STCs and there is one for the M20C. I spoke to King and they informed me that it was obsolete because the company who they partnered with got bought out and the buyer pulled the plug on the production. I was considering buying one for a steal so I can have something better than my steam gauges but was wondering if anyone had experience dealing with something like this. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&ei=VJklVNzLO9GvyAT1x4KgDA&url=http://www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DjCllRpY_838&cd=1&ved=0CCYQtwIwAA&usg=AFQjCNGAc-i51MaGNigl6ykHQhkVU7i6LQ&sig2=W13_kwcwfQXhIXoM6zMAWA
  23. Is this still available?
  24. I had a few ignition issues on my 68C not long ago and one of them was the SOS. After installing newly overhauled mags I was still not able to start the engine. My plugs were also new so I ruled that out as well. After talking to the mag shop I was advised to disconnect the starter and listen for the vibrator sound while crancking. I was able to hear the buzz, but when I measured the amperage on the vibrator it did not read as specified on the service manual. After replacing the SOS I finally got combustion.
