  1. Excellent!!! Looking forward to reading it!
  2. Why do you mount it on the passenger side? How do you use it during flight? Is it a bsckup? What functionality are you using?
  3. I am looking for a good flight bag/cockpit organizer to place between the two front seats (I fly a M20E with johnson bar) once the landing gear is up. Something where I can keep maps, charts, ipdate etc. to access/stow while during flight. Any recommencations/advice/best practices to share?
  4. My plane does not hat have an oxygen system. Yesterday, I flew with my son at FL160. The plane came with a portable bottle. It has a T -adapter. I used the nose cannula and my son had a mask. The whole set-up was sub optimal. What equipment do I need if 4 of us fly? I live in Germany and plan to frequently fly across the Alps. When I file IFR I fly FL150 for approx 45min each leg and dont want to fill up my bottle for each trip. What portable system do ypu recommend? In particular a system that I can use when I fly on my own, with 1 passenger, or even with 1-3 passengers?
  5. Any recommendations for an oximeter? Any advice on best practice on how to use one?

  7. Thanks. Next time I am out by my plane I'll reconfigure the mount to be vertical.
  8. Thank-you. I was not aware of the TCDS database. Great resource!
  9. I just recently purchase a 1964 M20E. The original "POH" it came with was 2 pages of typewritten description - with no real specs. Does anyone know where I can get some "numbers" on the aircraft? (e.g. max baggage load, max landing weight, etc.)
  10. I don't have experience with this yet, so any advice on this topic would be much appreciated. My airplane came with a portable oxygen bottle. Via a T-splitter, the is one hose with a cannula attachef and a second with an oxygen mask. What do I need to do, if I want to fit the bottle for pilot + 3 passengers. Is there a splitter that I can attach with 4 outlets that can be turned on/off? That way, if I fly by myself I just turn the other 3 off. If I fly with passengers, I could turn them on accordingly. Is that how it would be done in practice? How do others do ths?
  11. Does anyone have experience using the Sporty's App? It only has 3 reviews in itunes, but all 5 stars. I need one that also works well with metric, WnB pro (based on current itunes reviews) appears to have issues here.
  12. Anyone have experience updating Jeppesen NavData on a Trimble 2000? In particular with a Mac? I would like to have a back up card. What kind of card do I need? I would like to use my Macbook to do the udpate. What SW do I need?
  13. Parked in EDDN, Nuremberg, Germany during at stop over on my IPC checkout. On the other side a US military trainer jet was parked. The Mooney was by far the coolest plane on the ramp.
  14. Can anyone recommend a good ipad app for weight and balance?
  15. This is the pic I took today. It is difficult to see, but the screw is to the left and is fairly long.
  16. I tried out the RAM yoke mount today with a mini. I mounted it vertically, since that makes it easier to read approach plates. It seemed to work quite well. The only issue I saw, is that when pushing the throttle full forward, you cant turn the yoke. The screw fixture of the yoke mount (which sticks out to the left) gets caught in the HI adjustment. But then again I only go through these extreme movementes as part of the runup check. I guess if I came into a stall, I would have a similar problem, but then I dont want to be deflecting the ailerons ;-) Have others experienced this problem? Is there a better way to mount the RAM?
  17. I am looking at using a yoke mounted RAM mount with an ipad mini on my 1964 M20E. I have not yet tried it. Any experience with this? Will I damage the yoke? The set-up is not that light and I don't want to damage/strain the yoke. Any experience with this? Thanks, Nick
  18. I recently purchased a M20E. It has a Trimble 2000 GPS. The device is not very intuitive. I want to replace it with a Garmin 430, but until I do so, I want to use the Trimble. I am starting to fly the plane IFR and in Europe SIDs and STARs are std procedure. I have searched the web for videos/tutorials on the Trimble and the only thing I found was the 200+ page handbook. Does anyone have any advice/tips on how I can easily learn/get comfortable with the basic use? Any help/advice would be much appreciated. Thanks, Nick
  19. Hot Start: I have a 64 M20E and I use the following procedure. the trick for the hot start is the shutdown. I go to 1100 RPM then pull mixture and shut off. Don't touch the throttle. When you start, dont touch throttle. Leave as is, engage starter and full mixture. Once the engine is running then use throttle. I have been flying my plane for about 5 months and not have had any issues with hot starts. -Nick
  20. I have a 1964 M20E. I am new to the plane and now started flying it IFR. Does anyone have a good overview of the engine settings for a typical ILS glide slope/approach. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks, Nick
  21. I'd be happy to post a drawing of the split collars with the drilled/tapped holes if anyone would like - just let me know.
