  1. I have a 67 M20C with a working PC system but my Accutrack hunts left and right constantly. Servos and computer were sent to Brittain and checked good, so I think I'm getting a stray voltage from one of my other boxes. The other 'boxes' are an Apollo GX60 IFR certified GPS, and a KX-170B both slaved to a KI-209A. The KI-209A is actually driving the Accutrak. Before i start troubleshooting to see which of these 3 boxes is causing the problem i wanted to try something rather simple to rule out any problems with Accutrack. I want to disconnect the Accutrack from existing boxes and connect it directly to my dock mounted Garmin 496 and verify that it works correctly. My question is does anyone have a Garmin 496 driving their Accutrak AP? I'm thinking I should be able to purchase a power/data cable for the 496 and connect the data out pin to the Accutrak. Just need to know if any of you have done this before I try it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  2. Agree also. New to this forum and also new Mooney owner. When I saw this section I was really hopping to see HOW-TO videos of folks doing routine maintenance tasks. Not at all what I expected. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

  4. This is what I use since my hanger is also slightly up hill and is hard to push my plane into place. I bolted a $99 electric hoist (see picture) to the back of the T-hanger and extended the length of the switch with an extension cord. Now I just hook the hoist to the tail ring and use the tow bar only to steer. Tow bar on left hand and switch on right hand and I ease her back into place as easy as pie. 5. I was just down there a couple of weeks ago. Took a buddy of mine to pick up a twin Comanche he purchased from Bill. I saw this Mooney first hand and it is VERY NICE inside and out. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  6. I learned to fly right after high school. Then off to college, career, wife and kids, and unfortunately flying took a back seat when the kids came. I always loved flying and knew that eventually I would get back to it. Well, I got back to it six months ago. Got current again, and then I had the opportunity to pick up N2976L, a very nice M20C that had been well taken care of. I purchased her about a month ago and my son and I are enjoying every minute we spend flying the Mooney. He is a senior in high school and has a bad case of the flying bug. I was lucky to find a CFI in my home field that has an M20E for his personal airplane and was kind enough to provide Mooney specific instruction including the manual retraction gear. I had flown N2976L with the previous owner on business trips and was familiar with the aircraft, but now I look forward to passing the love of flying and airplanes to my son and daughter. 9. I'm enjoying it immensely. Mechanically (airframe and power plant) it is in great shape. Interior is also pretty good with solid IFR. The exterior paint is showing its age and although it is still good I'm planing on a paint job sometime in the near future. A GPS upgrade is also in the picture at some point. 10. I'm sure there eventually will be a mount for the mini that swivels. The mount shown in the picture is the only iPad mini mount I could find at the moment. I played with the orientation and I think I like it as shown in the picture best. From the pilots eye level it does not obscure any instruments including my second attitude indicator on the lower right side. If I locate it directly in the center of the yoke it has to clear the clock and it sits higher and it does obstruct some of the switches along the bottom ( if you are taller than 5'10 you may be ok). Anyway, I'm still playing with and will try it like this for a while. I do love the mini, and it works much better than regular sized iPad in the cockpit simply because it is the ideal size Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

  13. New Mooney owner reporting. Just purchased a 1967 M20C that had been exceptionally maintained. Love the airplane, and she flies great. Looking forward to learning from this group. Did a lot of research before purchasing this particular Mooney including a very thorough annual. She is absolutely free of corrosion and the previous owner was meticulous about maintenance as I intend to be as well. She is currently in my hanger at Craig Muni (KCRG). Hope to meet some of you in the near future. Hector Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
