At Casper Air Service they had 6 inch pipes filled with concrete with sections of car tires bolted to them for door stops on their ramp side doors. The owner said that it was the only thing they came up with to keep the doors from breaking when people opened them on windy days.

That's a good blow-story.

Yesterday I landed at MAF with a 60 degree 40 gusting to 50 Knot crosswind.  It was challenging, the gusts are what gets ya.  The end result was that I put a flat spot on my left main.  First time that has happened and when I opened the door the wind caught and ruined the stop latch on the bottom sliding door guide mechanism.  It was an expensive landing...  You gotta land sometime.

One night 20 years ago I was flying a rented turbo Arrow from Denvers APA to Phoenix FFZ. The headwinds were so bad I could not make the 494 Nautical with the 72 gals of fuel on board. Landed short at Show Low SOW. Headwind was so strong I felt like I would have gone backwards had I not kept the power up for landing. Used less than 100' of runway. Had to power up to get off the runway. Made my buddy hold down the right wing tip as I "flew" it off the runway. Must have been 50+ knots of wind right down the runway.
