Jerry 5TJ Posted December 30, 2012 Report Posted December 30, 2012 It is a fine night on the west coast, so I just flew 3 full stop landings and I'm legally night current again, at least for 90 days. I find I must go out and do multiple landings when the winter weather and my schedule both permit. That often leads to lapses in currency. Is there any other way to get or keep night currency? Can one use a simulator? Quote
gregwatts Posted December 30, 2012 Report Posted December 30, 2012 I don't think a simulator will keep you current.......but......I tend to do a lot of my flights at night......on purpose! Its cooler, less conjested, and I prefer night flight over day flight. Quote
Cody Stallings Posted December 30, 2012 Report Posted December 30, 2012 I second what Greg said. Love the night flights, just stretch some of your day flights into evening flights. That's should do it... Quote
Jerry 5TJ Posted December 30, 2012 Author Report Posted December 30, 2012 ... just stretch some of your day flights into evening flights. Well, 61.57 says three take offs and landings, so you need both to be legally current. But I take your meaning...go fly more at night. Quote
WardHolbrook Posted December 30, 2012 Report Posted December 30, 2012 It all depends upon the simulator. The full-motion "stimulators" used at FlightSafety and Simuflite work, the PC based training devices don't count. Quote
jfdez Posted December 30, 2012 Report Posted December 30, 2012 Full-motion, level C or D sims count for both landing and IFR currency. Quote
