mtrebbe Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 Does anyone have a formula to determine power settings (% of power) for a Rajay turbo normalized Lycoming IO360 A1A in a M20F? Quote
KSMooniac Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 LOP, multiply fuel flow in GPH by 15.0 and you'll get HP, then divide by 200. If you don't have an engine monitor and fuel flow, I would make those priorities 1A and 1B to maximize the utility of the turbo installation. Flying ROP, just use the tables in the POH and/or Lycoming manual. HP is a function of fuel, air, and RPM and the Rajay installation doesn't change any of those, except to give you the ability to run equivalent amounts of air at higher altitudes. Just use a table entry for whatever MP, RPM and mixture setting... If it were me, I'd fly it at 30" MP and 2500 RPM, and 11.0 GPH for my hi-cruise power setting and make sure the CHTs are all below 380dF. That would be a great hi-power LOP setting for going somewhere. Quote
Parker_Woodruff Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 What Scott said, except I think the Rayjay setup limits to 27" or 28", but it's been awhile since I've flown one...maybe that's a different setup I'm thinking of. Very cool and efficient machine, though!! Quote
