RoundTwo Posted May 16, 2023 Report Posted May 16, 2023 After being closed to civilians for the last 3 1/2 years, Pensacola NAS is opening back up for civilians tomorrow. I got the wild idea to fly down to 82J, jump in an Uber, go to the National Aviation Museum and watch a practice session, but with the West Gate 3 miles from the museum, I don’t think the Uber idea will work. Are Uber or Lyft drivers allowed on base for pick ups? Has anyone here figured out a way to pull this off smoothly? Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted May 16, 2023 Report Posted May 16, 2023 @RoundTwo When I used to work at Raytheon Missile Systems all the time, they would let UBER in as long as they had a drivers license. One time The lineman from the FBO I parked at drove me to Raytheon and he didn't have his driver's license. They wouldn't let him drive me to my destination (about 3 miles from where I was). The head guard said he would get me a ride. A few minutes later, a nice young lady in a beat up toyota full of ARs and a bunch of other weapons gave me a ride to the building I was going to. You didn't need a passport to get in the gate, but you needed one to get into the buildings. I had a badge... If you are curious, call the security office and ask them. https://cnrse.cnic.navy.mil/Installations/NAS-Pensacola/About/Visitor-Information/ https://www.basedirectory.com/nas-pensacola-directory/police-department-nas-pensacola Quote

My fear would be getting in and then hitting capacity and our ex-fil ride not being able to get us out. It’s almost worth flying down, just for the recon opportunity. Quote

Any reason to fly is a good reason! 2 Quote
