BigD Posted January 18, 2023 Report Posted January 18, 2023 Bolts in picture are to 0-360-A1D measured to be 1/4 inch. Standard torque table shows 96-106 inch pounds. If that’s the case, they ARE loose! My wrench does foot pounds which would equate to 8-8.83 foot pounds. Feel free to check my math. Am I looking at this correctly? Thanks! Quote
PT20J Posted January 18, 2023 Report Posted January 18, 2023 Torque values agree with Lycoming SSP-1776 and the math is right. However, that seems like a low value for a torque wrench calibrated in ft-lbs. I might get an in-lb wrench where 100 in-lb is closer to mid scale and recheck. What's up with the red RTV? Maybe someone tried to fix a leak? That may be what caused the bolts to lose torque as the RTV shrunk. 1 Quote
carusoam Posted January 19, 2023 Report Posted January 19, 2023 Factor of 12 just like you would expect… But, if your wrench only does ft-Lbs… Check the accuracy at its low end… Torque wrenches are pretty low cost this century… compared to past… Then there is that whole discussion on calibration… PP thoughts only… -a- 1 Quote

Guest Posted January 19, 2023 Report Posted January 19, 2023 The nut and bolt in the second picture are the wrong p/n. That an MS21042-4 nut instead of an STD1411 Lycoming nut. Quote
