In my IA renewal class yesterday Lycoming brought up that one common indicator for a valve sticking is an intermittent loss of power in cruise flight, it’s a stumbling as of course only one cylinder loses some power for a short interval, then come back and operates normally. It’s random and can happen at different intervals.

I bring this up as at least one member is I think having random, intermittent stumbling in cruise and suspecting water.

But Lycomings recommendation is if you experience this you should do an exhaust valve wobble check, something they recommend at about a 300 or 400 hour interval anyway.
