MikeOH Posted September 6, 2022 Report Posted September 6, 2022 So, looking at the diagram in the SB, it is not clear to me which way the shim/collar affects the castor. Does thicker increase or decrease the 'gap'? Quote

Does thicker increase or decrease the 'gap'? Increasing the thickness of the spacer under the collar (or turning the thick side of the collar to the bottom) pulls the donuts further into compression, which moves the wheel axle toward the tail of the airplane and increases the caster angle. 2 1 Quote

cliffy Posted September 10, 2022 Report Posted September 10, 2022 Folks ! By far more importance than the collar is how sloppy or lose the articulating steering pieces are up in the nose well. "8 SECOND RIDE" again!! If those parts are worn you'll dart all over the runway Lift the nose wheel off the ground and see how loose it is in turning (at the nose wheel), If it goes more than a few degrees L or R repair the top linkage. 1 Quote
