I came across this page in the parts manual.  I installed something similar in a C172 back in the day when USB converters and other electronics were a bit sensitive to voltage.  A dropping resistor on a cigar lighter does drop the voltage for light loads.

Does anyone know where Mooney installed these, and what they were used for?  Cigar lighter?  Avionics?  Speedbrakes?

That's a portable 24/12v converter with cigarette lighter plugs and sockets.

If it were portable, it would not be an option or listed in the parts manual.

Except it's listed in the parts manual as portable. There is also a fixed option(-503).
