The development history of the A330 has problems with stall characteristics. The data from the 40's is very relevant. This was a 550,000 pound airplane that was to fly at FL410 as efficiently and on the same thrust as the 400,000 pound 767. The result was a very high aspect ratio, much more so than most other jets. The wing twists so much there is active load control to unload it if necessary.  In wind tunnel, and computer analysis,  stall looked good, however flight testing proved differently. If you notice the "slipper" leading edge inboard of the engines, that was the fix required after actual flight testing to tame the beast. This is the best picture (although it has a damaged wing panel) I could find of it, and yes, it is fully retracted
