KSMooniac Posted November 28, 2011 Report Posted November 28, 2011 Your best bet is to be willing to search nationwide for the right plane, and ask for local help for the first evaluation after you decide that it is worth pursuing. You should be able to get a ton of detailed pics and scanned logs/records via email to filter your choices (if you have a serious and diligent seller). If you are patient and diligent, you should be able to narrow down your choices so that you don't end up flying all over the country multiple times to find "your" plane and thus keep your searching costs down. It is wiser to spend a bit more if needed or expand your search radius and get the best plane you can instead of settling on something less desirable just because it is somewhat local to you. There is a lot of junk on the market, but there are a few gems here and there too. Quote

pjsny78 Posted December 4, 2011 Report Posted December 4, 2011 If you are searching for a pre-Purchase inspection, or a local mechanic in the Georgia area, please read my post about Cole aviation. I would really stay away and look for someone else. In and around Atlanta you have a few to choose from. The comments that I have read after my post are pretty much the same. I hope you don’t make the same mistake I have. http://www.mooneyspace.com/index.cfm?mainaction=posts&page=1&forumid=1&threadid=3930#post48998 Patrick Quote
jetdriven Posted December 4, 2011 Report Posted December 4, 2011 60K you look hard enough you can get a real J. A 1977 with some hours, and old radios, but still. Quote: 1964-M20E I think I’d pass on this one at $76k maybe in the $40 to $50k range and as stated above if you are in this ballpark for $ go for a 201. I know where you can get a 74 Arrow I know this is a Mooney board (20 lashes with a wet noodle for me) but my neighbor is selling his Arrow II with brand new pant and interior the plane is lacking on avionics though but could be had in the $60k range. Unfortunately he is giving up flying he does not use his plane enough. Quote
eeyore Posted December 4, 2011 Author Report Posted December 4, 2011 Patrick: Thank you for the link. I e-mailed all 3 MSC in GA. Cole quoted the cheapest pre-buy inspection/annual ($1800). Now I know why. Quote
pjsny78 Posted December 4, 2011 Report Posted December 4, 2011 You are welcome. I was very naïve when I purchased my plane and did not know about Mooneyspace until afterwards. This was my first airplane purchase and my first experience with a Mooney. I’m glad I could help out. I am still paying for my mistake with Cole. Patrick Quote
