FLYFST Posted April 12, 2021 Report Posted April 12, 2021 Just a quick note to ask for recommendations to perform spectrographic analysis of the contents captured by the oil filter element. I regularly use Blackstone for oil analysis and they also provide this type of oil filter analysis, but I am wondering if there are any other labs that the Mooney community would recommend. thanks - Hank
201Steve Posted April 17, 2021 Report Posted April 17, 2021 AvLabs out of Louisiana seems to be the choice for filter and particle analysis. I’ve used them once for partical. Was neither disappointed nor impressed. They gave me an AMS# which I suppose is all I asked for.
EricJ Posted April 17, 2021 Report Posted April 17, 2021 I use blackstone and have been very happy with them. A buddy works at Empire-Cat in their oil analysis lab and tried to get me to switch to them, as they do aircraft as well. I just didn't have any reason to change, so I stayed with h0.https://www.empire-cat.com/service/fluids-lab
BDPetersen Posted April 18, 2021 Report Posted April 18, 2021 I’m not sure what his status is, but Howard Fenton, Fenton Oil Analysis 918-492-5844 always has been a goto person for such. I believe he previously owned or had a lot to do with Blackstone.
