MooneyMitch Posted December 10, 2019 Report Posted December 10, 2019 Based on the use of slings, and their placement, I’d suspect some serious fuselage wrinkles. Major damage to airframe. 1 Quote

Major damage to airframe. The front mount was attached to engine mount near the firewall with sling under the wings and fuselage. The under-body was already damaged since it went down shortly after take off with gears up. Quote
MooneyMitch Posted December 10, 2019 Report Posted December 10, 2019 Underbody damage is from scraping along tera firma. Skins replaceable. Sling under fuselage and wings is another aspect. Those types of skins are not nearly as inexpensive to replace. My opinion only..... I’d rather not do that. With that said..... it sure looks super cool with that mode of transportation. 1 Quote

Ron McBride Posted December 10, 2019 Report Posted December 10, 2019 What if a skin was pulled, so that straps were attached to the steel cage near the baggage compartment? Ron Quote
M20S Driver Posted December 11, 2019 Author Report Posted December 11, 2019 The belly was slightly wrinkled since the ground was soft where he touched down. What I heard from my tie down Neighbour was that it Was ferried/flew to repair shop from KPAO after some repair and a prop replacement. It was a looooong time ago. Quote
BradB Posted December 11, 2019 Report Posted December 11, 2019 I’m surprised that MS hasn’t already calculated and published the speed and GPH for the Mooney in that video. Bradb Former Acclaim. 1 Quote

Ron Interesting concept if it were overall economically feasible. At least preferable to destroying fuselage skins. Hmmmm...... Quote
