Right tank sender works perfectly when pulled out and grounded but when installed shows full always. Seems like something internally is opening circuit when installed. These folks will overhaul/rebuild your existing fuel sender at a very reasonable cost: http://airpartsoflockhaven.com/ But from the description, it sounds more like an installation issue. There should be plastic/nylon grommets around each of the screws securing the sender to prevent them from grounding out the fuel transmitter when installed (at least is this true for the later models). See your model IPC for proper parts used in installation if you haven't already as your issue may be as simple at that. Quote
Chuckydb Posted December 19, 2020 Report Posted December 19, 2020 Yes I read about the overhaul guys and will call them on Monday. What is weird is that I read about the grommets (mine does not have) but when I hold side to the hole and ground it, it works perfect! If you don’t touch to metal, it does not? Quote
MikeOH Posted December 19, 2020 Report Posted December 19, 2020 Definitely going off a Rev. Jim memory here, but don't some of the models have TWO senders per side? In series such that the housing of one is insulated from the airframe and is then daisy chained to the other sender that must be grounded? Quote

Two senders started with the Mid Body Mooney so I assume the G has them too.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
carusoam Posted December 20, 2020 Report Posted December 20, 2020 26 gallon tanks are pretty short and don’t go up hill too much.... as tank volumes increased... they go up hill a lot... So... having two senders on long tanks that go up hill... is a better way to handle the Fuel Level question... Now... if you can program the response of those two senders with a digital device... this would get you the one gal accuracy that is possible... Newer style senders have more segments in the mechanical resistor... Newer technology senders use frequency instead of resistance for the ultimate performance... Either way... you can still run out of gas with really good senders... PP thoughts only, not a mechanic... Best regards, -a- Quote
