Mooney13 Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 Went flying this weekend and realized 1.5 hours into it that I did not raise my flaps all the way...they were just above take off config.. Everything worked fine for the landing and I don't see any obvious damage. My question is....should I be looking for something in particular and is there somethign that I might not see that could have been damaged? I am hoping I am not the only person on the site that has done this (maybe someone has a "friend" that has done this......) thanks for any advice / info.. Quote
debiassi Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 Have the aircraft looked at just to be on the safe side Quote
Mooney13 Posted May 18, 2009 Author Report Posted May 18, 2009 They were down about half way to the take-off setting. I used them to land twice after I realized and put them up the rest of the way and they seemd fine both times, but I'll have them double checked...I don't see anythign that looked different, but then again, I am not an A&P ... Thansk! Quote
mooniac58 Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 I did this once and caught it about 2 mins into cruise. The aircraft was wanting to roll in one direction or the other and speeds were low, which tipped me off to my error. I think I asked my A&P about it and he indicated the electric motor would be the likely thing to get harmed from this...but we did not do any heavy inspection, we just exercised the flaps a bunch and listened and looked for oddities... Piloto Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 I would not worry about. The flap hinges are much stronger than the flaps themself. If any damage was going to be done it would a slight flap deformation that would be visible by a slight twist on the trailing edge. Check the flap trailing edge. It should straight from the outboard tip to the inboard tip. I doubt you will find any deformation. José Quote
Mooney13 Posted May 20, 2009 Author Report Posted May 20, 2009 Thanks again for all the feedback...I can assure you it won't happen again Quote
docket Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 I did it and flew for about 30 minutes. I was at about 160 kts for 20 minutes of that flight. At my annual they didn't find any issue. If the flaps work fine I am sure that you are ok. Quote
