lifendet Posted December 12, 2018 Report Posted December 12, 2018 My stock CHT gauge deflects full right after my CHT on my JPI 700 increase above 300. When I'm descending and the temps on my JPI go back in the 200,s the stock CHT gauge go back in the middle. Bad gauge? Quote
carusoam Posted December 13, 2018 Report Posted December 13, 2018 It is such a simple gauge... a thermo-couple on one end, a microvolt reader on the other... Find the sensor, and track it’s wires back to the gauge... The microvolts increase with temperature... so something is causing the gauge to sense more microvolts all of a sudden... Somthing odd is going on with the system. Unfortunately, the description of the challenge doesn’t give an obvious answer... Look for missing insulation, or broken wires... Swap the thermocouple with another one temporarily at least... to see if the rest of the system is working... Keep in mind there are different types of thermocouples that will not read the same... but Mooneys typically use the same type of TC everywhere...(?) PP thoughts only, not a mechanic... Best regards, -a- Quote
