Jewell does indeed seem to be a jewel... Sam is super knowledgeable and helpful. In the end though the price came out about the same as for Triad in NC, so I'm gonna go with Triad given my rapport with Othman and that he seems to have a good relationship with Rich at Executive in Myrtle Beach.

Man the costs keep adding up... taking the engine out and putting it back in will be over $5k on top, plus flushing the prop and governor are extra. Talk about stressful. I could buy a Cessna for what this is going to cost :D

That's just the warm up lap, wait until everything is out and apart, it will likely get worse.

This was almost our exact situation as well. Jewell was great to talk to, and a friend recently had his engine overhauled by them. In the end, costs were starting to add up the same, and our mechanic already works with Triad on most overhauls. So Triad got the work.

Cool, when will they be finishing up the work? Would love to hear how it goes

We're expecting Triad to be done in a couple of weeks. We're two weeks into an estimated 4 week turn-around from Triad. I'm guessing AGL will take a few days to get it installed and buttoned up. With some luck, the plane will be in the air again first week of June.

A few years ago Triad and AGL got my engine turned around and reinstalled in time to get to Mooney Summit. Gear up landing so also got new prop and Lynn rebuilt the one piece belly. Under 2 months.
