Story suggests that the pilot had some kind of gear problem (1993 Bravo N3RZ) and couldn't get it down...forced to belly land.  Of course, no idea if the reporting is accurate.

Plane is/was listed for sale by Byerly Aviation...says gear was "overhauled" in 2014.

That would be my guess too...  It must have had around 1800-2000 hours when it failed.

Does anyone here know if there has ever been more than that single confirmed failure of the no-back spring that spawned the AD years ago?

There have been some really good pictures of cracks forming in the spring posted around here somewhere.

The details seem to show more cracks over time.  See if you can find them by the search function.  It would be interesting to get your thoughts.
