Guest Mike261 Posted November 4, 2015 Report Posted November 4, 2015 so, I'm about to install the EDM 900 and I'm reading through the stuff, and i find this: Holding the step button in for 5 seconds, with the engine OFF, will produce the gray arrow. This arrow can be rotated to a new up position by tapping the LF button and then the STEP button. If for some reason you chose the one bad angle (Landscape looking up from the buttons), return the instrument to JPI and JPI will rotate the screen. what does this mean? landscape looking up from the buttons is generally how the unit is depicted in advertisements. does this mean you select this position and then the screen is stuck? and the one bad angle? i don't get it...anyone install one and understand this? KSMooniac Posted November 4, 2015 Report Posted November 4, 2015 You can keep rotating the orientation until you get the one you want. Not a big deal. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk Quote

Guest Mike261 Posted November 4, 2015 Report Posted November 4, 2015 i get that you can rotate the screen, but read the sentence carefully...If for some reason you chose the one bad angle (Landscape looking up from the buttons), return the instrument to JPI and JPI will rotate the screen. Quote
KSMooniac Posted November 4, 2015 Report Posted November 4, 2015 I don't know why it says that...I rotated mine around a couple times before getting it right. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk Quote
N601RX Posted November 4, 2015 Report Posted November 4, 2015 I've also rotated mine a couple of times. Originally it was vertical, but with the new panel I moved it to horizontal. The viewing angle is also affected by the physical orientation the unit is mounted in. Buttons on the right vs buttons on the left. Quote

I think it is bad wording and they meant if you couldn't figure it, send it back. Or least I hope that is what they meant. I have not re-oriented mine since installation. I can't believe it would lock into a certain mode and they are the only ones who could undo it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
Guest Mike261 Posted November 4, 2015 Report Posted November 4, 2015 (edited) I was looking at videos online of operation and i watched one where the screen was stuck...didnt give it much though until i started reading the pilots guide and saw that sentence. given my propensity to fiddle with settings and such i figured i better get some first hand knowledge of what will happen if i start flipping the screen around at install. the video:
JPI EDM-900 Upside Down from Pilot Getaways on Vimeo.
Edited November 4, 2015 by Mike261 Quote

Based on these videos and the manual comments, it looks like there is an issue at times where it gets stuck in the wrong orientation and needs to be returned to JPI to correct it.
