MooneyBob Posted January 18, 2015 Report Posted January 18, 2015 FYI, I have just replaced my leaking Dukes boost pump with the new Weldon one. It was pretty easy swap. I did it myself and my mechanic supervised and sign it off. The original Dukes was 1499-00-19A on my 1977 M20J and the direct swap is Weldon 18020-A. First I have ordered the Weldon A8186-A as it is listed under Mooney within my serial number range but it was wrong one. I paid $ 793 at Aircraft Spruce which is pretty good deal compare to the new or even overhauled Dukes. I have read some good reviews on Weldon and it is continuous operation pump. And it looks pretty and shiny. Quote
DrBill Posted January 18, 2015 Report Posted January 18, 2015 Sounds different than the Dukes, doesn't it ? I swapped mine in August. BILL Quote
rbridges Posted January 18, 2015 Report Posted January 18, 2015 doesn't look like they have one for the c model. Quote
rbridges Posted January 18, 2015 Report Posted January 18, 2015 I know weldon sells one but not one that's a direct replacement AFAIK. I'd love to be wrong, but I couldn't find one on the Weldon website. Quote
chrisk Posted January 18, 2015 Report Posted January 18, 2015 I just had my mechanic do the swap on my plane. Tomorrow I will be taking it for the post install test flight. Quote

Their document is confusing, they have the J listed in their multiple times, if you have an OEM pump you need 8163, if Dukes then 18020, at least that's how I read it Quote

Seth Posted January 18, 2015 Report Posted January 18, 2015 If you can, sell the dukes core to someone who wants to rebuild it. That's what I did when my dukes started giving me issues in my former F model back in 2010. -Seth Quote

dcastor Posted January 19, 2015 Report Posted January 19, 2015 Thanks for the PIREP, I hope my pump has lots of life left, but if it does fail this seems the way to go. I've also got a '77 M20J. Quote
DrBill Posted January 19, 2015 Report Posted January 19, 2015 I have a Dukes 1499-00-19A that needs overhaul for sale for $50 shipped. Bill Quote
N601RX Posted January 19, 2015 Report Posted January 19, 2015 Does anyone know if the 1499-00-19A can be rebuilt as a 1499-00-19 so there is no need for the inline strainer? Quote
