John Pleisse Posted January 21, 2015 Report Posted January 21, 2015 How about bread bags on your feet. How was that like? Or was is just turkey or bread, not both. I really want to see where that $20K to $40K of upward mobility comes from in the country that scores lower in upward mobility than any other OECD country. Maybe we have the lowest upward mobility precisely because many cannot afford childcare and school. Look, Obama just solved your problem. Now if we only had real sex ed, maybe they wouldn't have children at 18 so they wouldn't need these things, but since we don't (thank Jesus™), the only way anyone is going to be upwardly mobile is with a little bit of help. His solutions are precisely about upward mobility. Providing a gross income tax credit of $3k for a $50k household is a low net, tax refund vacation in June...you and I know this. Making it impossible to start a new business because of taxation and regulation assures your young family little more than a morsel of money that will barley put a dent in 2 months of daycare. Average daycare is north of a car payment per month. More daycare centers, better care, more availability, greater competition, lower cost, more small businesses started, better economy. Now, one more crack about Jesus.....and you'll only be left here alone having a four-handed circle jerk with Mike. Don't throw bombs....up your game.

Free day care, which the GOP views as just another handout, would be critical in getting some of these people out of their current economic condition, in my opinion.

Taxation and regulation stops anyone from starting a business. Where do you get that bullshit from? What business? Drilling oil wells? Laying high voltage power cables? Those are not businesses started by little guys. They take millions in capital and millions in capital can afford lawyers to deal with regulation and skirt it. Most small business are exactly that, small. Mom and pop. They are the $50K a year household. Their taxation is exactly the same as anybody else and they are not, in any, way, shape or form regulated on federal level unless they are selling guns, explosives or drugs. I've started many, 2 in the last 2 years. File articles of incorporation, call paychecks, call my benefit manager. 4 times a year submit an Excel spreadsheet to my accountant, once a year sign a tax statement. Fuck me, I am overly regulated. All my regulations come from state level aka the insurance commission making sure the taxpayers don't get stuck with a failed insurance company. Is that the regulation you want to eliminate? In my software businesses, I face no regulation what so ever. None, zero. Or are you talking about a roofing business for example and evil OSHA? Do you know why workman's comp rates are 30% for roofing companies. It's not because Scott and his company is making a ton of money. All you ever present is bullshit anecdotal evidence overheard on conservative TV or radio. No major regulation is stopping Johny from becoming an independent florist. A ton of regulation and millions of dollars in capital are stopping Johny from becoming a pipeline owner. Thank The Big Guy in the Sky. Another giant cluster fuck on an oil spill into the pristine Yellowstone river over the weekend. If anything, these business' are severely under inspected, under fined and under regulated.
AndyFromCB Posted January 21, 2015 Report Posted January 21, 2015 As to the Lord, I am not throwing bombs. I truly believe that religion is at least 50% responsible for current state of this country. This is my belief and I fight the death cult followers on daily basis with my contributions and my politics. Nothing against you per se, just against the entire institution and its followers.

I pointed this out and posed this very question a few pages back but never got a response to it. Other than the local municipality requiring fire sprinklers or a business license, what kind of regulation does a guy opening up a Hallmark card shop run into? And if they incorporate as an "S" Corp, what additional tax liability do they have?

AndyFromCB Posted January 21, 2015 Report Posted January 21, 2015 I was speaking of daycare centers...more of them. Small businesses are the fuel that drives an economy, not government assistance. So now you want unregulated, un inspected day care centers. Every time there is a news story around here about a kid getting injured or killed, it's always an unregulated, un inspected day care center. I actually wrote a piece of software for the state to track licenses, inspections and violations. The shit I have seen in that database would make your head spin.
flyboy0681 Posted January 21, 2015 Report Posted January 21, 2015 The shit I have seen in that database would make your head spin. Not mine. I live in South Florida, home to "mom and pop" day care centers and dental practices in garages. To expand on a previous statement that you made about being in the software business and not experiencing any regulation, I'm in the same boat. I write software for a living and don't personally have to answer to any regulatory body.

No, I want more daycare centers, lower cost per family, more people starting a small business. I don't want anyone hurt or to have children mistreated. I want reasonable regulation that meets demand. I want your young family to know their kids are safe. Stop looking at your data base. It makes you omit nuance and reality. It WAS you who finally arrived at defensive medicine being a contributory factor in malpractice.... I mean, you eventually got there. It was you who omitted true child birth costs, citing from your "data", that it only costs $1,800 to have a kid..right?

Here you go: https://ccmis.dhs.state.ia.us/providerportal/ChildCareRequirements.aspx Anybody with 3 brain cells can meet these regulations. Excessive, I don't think so. Point one out on the one page matrix you consider excessive. And with $3000 a year credit, maybe more people will as the demand will increase and more women will enter workforce or school for whom it previously made no sense. Guess what, government assistance can and does drive the economy. Ask any rocket scientist. Essentially un-employable otherwise. Ask their housekeepers and the in keepers are their favorite vacation spot.
John Pleisse Posted January 21, 2015 Report Posted January 21, 2015 So devote the tax credit to appropriate regulation, rather than provide a government benefit that won't put a dent in $8-12K in child care costs and employ 10 more people in the process, so they, in turn, can do the same.
John Pleisse Posted January 21, 2015 Report Posted January 21, 2015 Oh...and pre-K is also childcare.

Childcare around here is about $6K a year. A $3K is a big dent. Big enough to go back to work and get off food stamps, even at min wage. Would be a lot smarter if it was done as a voucher instead a tax credit where one has to wait a year. Then you'd be amazed how many people would consider going back to work, even at 8 an hour instead of taking care of kids at home and collecting food stamps. I mean here you have a perfect example of something that would actually stimulate the economy and you hate it, simply because Obama proposed it. Like I said, want immediate effect, make it a voucher.

As simple as that. Fucking professionalism at its best.
jetdriven Posted January 22, 2015 Report Posted January 22, 2015 i like how he removed the gun from the car, and when the passenger gets out, both hands up, cop starts shooting. We dont know all the circumstances but I can call the outcome. If it gets far enough to convene a grand jury, the cop gets off.
BorealOne Posted January 22, 2015 Report Posted January 22, 2015 Here is what is making my head explode today. http://m.huffpost.com/ca/entry/6517272 The guy who craters Target in Canada gets 61M severance, personally. Meanwhile, the 17000 moms and pops who worked for him get ~50m to split between them. He had one job - make Target a success in Canada. He lost a couple of billion before his board reined him in. How does being a total failure at your one job warrant that kind of compensation? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

jetdriven Posted January 22, 2015 Report Posted January 22, 2015 Bob McCullough was working for the cop. He data dumped the hell out of the grand jury instead of establishing reasonable proof and stop. He didn't even suggest which indictment to pursue. Plus he put a known liar to testify to them. And the cop get 3 hours of testimony all the while being asked leading questions. None of which takes place at a real indictment hearing. But the Eric Garner case is stunning. Put to death in a choke hold for suspected selling of loose cigarettes.
