Wondering if anyone has any experience with a particular light to aid in borescope inspections? I have the latest snap on borescope but even with the light turned all the way up, I'd still like more light. Anyone know of a flexible stylist light that really is super bright that can be inserted into the other spark plug hole to brighten things up more? I see lots of them advertised but doubt how bright they are.

Thanks,

Aaron

Aaron,

Just curious what type of borescope do you have, from where, at what price.  Some of the devices from say Harbor Freight look interesting but then you realize they may not fit through SP hole and probably will not bend around sufficient to look at valve seats.

I bought a dental camera on ebay for around $100 to use as a bore scope.  It works great for looking in those hidden areas on the engine, but I have yet to use it as a bore scope.   Now that I have my own hanger, I'm sure it will see more use.   You might search on beechtalk.com for "dental camera". --Oh, it also comes with its own built in light.

The best thing would be to find a fiberoptic pediatric bronchoscope. They are super bright. Troy

We have a very nice borescope at work [Olympus]. The built-in light is very bright. It's the only borescope I have ever personally used.

I'm just trying to get some additional light to supplement the existing $900 snap on borescope I already bought, not looking for a different bore scope.

The snap on lights the valves up great but I'd like to have more light I the cylinders for barrel inspection.

Thank,

Aaron,

Do you have the straight lense or the one with the switch that shows a second 90 degree view? The Snap-On I use has a second lense with the side view option that provides very clear images. Ask your dealer to let you try it out if you haven't already.

I have the one that has both the straight and 90 degree problem is that it doesn't seem to light the cylinder walls up good enough unless up close...trying to get a shot of larger areas of the cylinder.
