Working on my Interior...

Ok, the red has got to go.  I made the mistake of sending my yokes down to Aero Comfort in San Antonio since it was just so convenient to Kerrville, and now I've negotiated the purchase of 4 seats re-foamed and re-upholstered in gray leather.

I'd also like to redo my sidewalls and overhead while the seats are out, but I have an issue.

Somewhere along the line, my pilot side window trim and passenger door trim got replaced with non-round, very yellowed, window trim (photo below).  The issue with round windows isn't the only issue.

The plastic is also much thicker than stock, and if I re-cover in Euroleather it could make closing the door...well...not a very good fit.  If it comes to worst I can always just repaint.

Does anyone know a source for round window trim before I do the sidewalls?  and something that won't be too pricey...

 

FYI the last two photos were the seller's photos.  My yokes had about 2/3 the paint remaining, the sidwall trim is falling off, and the front plastic is yellowing a lot.

I don't know about the window trim, but those seats are YUMMY Parker!  Nice

My understanding is that plane plastics does not make the modern round window trim-- only plastics for early model Js. Let me know if you hear otherwise.

I was a little shocked when you mentioned the "mistake" of sending work to AeroComfort. Then I realized the "mistake" was costing you for four gorgeous seats and Euroleather.  My bet is that you'll find that decision to be one of the loveliest "mistakes" you've made.

Really nice seats....I'm a little jealous, but not ready to fund a similar mistake.  As for getting rid of the red, I've got burnt orange seats in my J, and they are still in really good condition so I can't justify the change....yet.

I am in the planning stage to redo the interior of my "79 M20K. 

Painting the interior is not a very good option due to the number of cracks.  I feel covering the interior is the only way to do my mooney the justice she deserves.  Does anyone have a resource for fabric covering?  In addition, how much material will I need?

When Hector at AeroComfort.com quoted my interior job, he talked about the cloth option as being very handsome. I went with the Pleather or Ultraleather, just because my backseat pax are sticky-handed toddlers, but he does both, and would probably be willing to give you specifics.

Payoff is a wonderful thing!  I have the luxury of having passed the payoff dates on my 201, my car, my truck and my wife's car.  Next up on the list is my house.....that one's going to take a little more time, but we'll get there.  Now if I can just keep all those motorized conveyances in good working order I can do paint this year, interior after that:)

So I decided to help out my local economy today and got the round window door/window panels ordered from Mooney for $300/side.

Hoping to have a functional aircraft at the start of July just in time for a visit to St. Louis.

We'll see...
