Hello fellow Mooniacs! I pulled the trigger on a purchase agreement for a 1966 M20C located in Leeward Air Ranch near Ocala,FL. I am looking for recommendations on very sharp I&As to inspect this plane that has only 20 hours flown in the last 15 years. I know it's a long shot but I tend to have great luck and need confirmation there is no looming issues with her and she is one sharp bird! Most likely if all goes well,I would ask to complete the PPI and finish it as an annual. Any recommendations on specific points to be keen on are also welcome! I.e. spar corrosion, fuel seepage, pucks, camshaft corrosion, and anything else I'm missing or specific ways to analyze these big ticket items. Thank you in advance for your time! -Michael Brian

Any recommendations for a Mooney M20C PPI in the Oshkosh Wisconsin area?

Hi - I am needing to do a prepurchase on a Mooney in the Kansas/MO/IL area. Any recommendations for a good shop in the area (ideally KS or MO). I have considered getting it down to TX but it would mean having to get someone to fly it down so hoping for a shop that is good quality but closer. I found one shop in Illinois (Byerly) - anyone have any dealings with them?

Background. Owned a 1982 M20J and really enjoyed it. Was getting long in the tooth and needed to many avionics and other repairs. Traded in for a 2013 Cirrus SR20. Love the glass, chute, etc etc. But 145KTs and handling characteristics aren't working out so well. We have decided to try and sell the Cirrus and move to an Ovation. Our ideal plane is something with FIKI, NDH, etc. etc. etc. We know the value of a good PPI and inspection. All that being said. I'm looking for recommendations for shops and mechanics in the IN, IL, WI areas as well as NY, CT, NJ. My thought is if I find something that looks good on my eyeball, flight and logs, to bring to a local mechanic who knows Mooneys. If that works then a shop for a thorough PPI. Recommendations in the Midwest and Northeast would be helpful. Thank you!

We've been looking for a small family x-country machine for a few months. Our requirements are; seats 2 reasonable sized adults plus 2 small adults, reasonable ASEL speed with a fuel burn that won't break the bank, affordable Mx, and IFR GPS (WAAS big plus). We are interested in forming/finding a partnership in Central Mississippi. I'm commercial/instrument rated in ASEL and helicopters. I was able to look at the below airplane in person earlier this week. It is located on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. (25 minute drive from my other office) The owner was very informative and easy going. We looked at the airplane and logbooks but did not fly due to time constraints. I'll admit that I spent more time on the airplane than the logbooks... My big conserns are the engine and prop. I'm going to do a good logbook scrub and fly the airplane before take it to a MSC for a PPI. Would any of you Mooney owners be able to add to the notes taken below? What's a good ballpark figure for this airplane? 66Y M20F N9621M 4,000 hour total time 790 hours since the engine was overhauled by Western Skyways Inc to “Factory new tolerances” in 2005.
