On the riveted ones you were limited to two re-torques. Those original v-clamps giving out were responsible for at least a couple fires and deaths on Bravos. On the Bravos regarding pricing for the clamps: The exhaust V-Band clamp part number is Lycoming 40D23255-340M which sells for over $1200 (http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/eppages/lycomingcouplings.php) However the Mooney service bulletin (http://mooney.free.fr/Mooney SB SI/283a.pdf) says that the equivalent Aeroquip part number NH1009399-10 can be used. Aeroquip makes the above part for Lycoming - they are the exact same part. Lycoming names them as their vendor on this part on this service instruction: https://www.lycoming.com/sites/default/files/Assembly and Torque Procedures for V-Band Couplings.pdf). The Aeroquip part is a lot less at Aircraft Spruce (http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/eppages/engineclamps.php). @AeroEng regarding the clamps for the Acclaim let's see if we can find out who makes it. The service bulletin does say to replace it (https://www.mooney.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/SBM20-299A.pdf) but doesn't mention anything about how many re-torques are allowed.

Just to update those who are interested, Textron just shipped the new 40D23255-340M coupling I ordered in January. Current ship date if ordered today is October. Price is $1947.98 retail (shops are able to order at a modest discount). -
I apologize for making it sound like I was blaming Mooney. I certainly understand that this is an engine issue and not related at all to Mooney. However due to the scarcity of this part I may be commiserating with many Mooney owners and other owners who have experienced long delays due to the unavailability of parts whether brand or engine specific. My A&P sent me the following text: “The P/N I have from LASAR is NH1009399-10 I also was given P/N 40D23255-340M.” Thank you for your response to this post. Good advice which I have followed.

Great news that they found that before it let go. Aeroquip makes that clamp for Lycoming and when Lycoming gets the part they use their own part number 40D23255-340M and list it for $2000 , a little less through vendors (https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/pnpages/07-03199.php). Well it finally happened. I have the riveted exhaust clamp that is on the exhaust side of the turbo. I was doing my 25 Hour Oil change today and began checking the exhaust clamps. I got around to the turbo exhaust clamp and it was loose enough to move. It wasn’t like that 25 hours ago. Looked around and didn’t see any cracks, but did see discoloration so tried to torque the clamp to 50 in-lbs. No joy. Looked closer and noticed something. See it? I took a closer look and sure enough. Caught a fingernail. Pulled it off the exhaust and confirmed. I cannot find the part anywhere. Lycoming is 200 days out. The AD has everyone looking, buying or hoarding. Check these every time you do an oil change. Check your exhaust pipe on preflight. I last flew a week ago and all was fine. If anyone has a source or lead on the exhaust clamp, please reach out! Lycoming p/n 40D23255-340M or Eaton NH1009399-10 Ryan

The riveted clamp on the Bravo (40D23255-340M) came as a result of the spot welded clamps failing. There were in-flight fires and deaths that resulted. (IMHO all of these clamps whether on Lycoming or Continentals should be required to be riveted. The spot welds fail after numerous heat and cool cycles.) The reason that the clamps are replaced after two re-torques has nothing to do with the rivets, just in an abundance of caution since there were several instances of the previous clamp failing, leading to deaths. A Service Bulletin, later AD, came out requiring the spot-welded clamp to be replaced with the riveted clamp within 10 hours. Piper who uses a Lycoming TIO-540 in Mirages and Turbo Saratogas with the same clamp went through the same thing around 2010. Mooney’s service bulletin also included a heat shield in front of the firewall which would buy a few more seconds if the tail pipe gave way due to a clamp failure.
