  1. I have 1500hrs on my TN carbed 360, and fly at around 50 lop when the turbo is spinning. My compressions at annual were all 79. I even ran around the country for 150hrs with a bad tach reading 150 low (it sounded loud, but im getting older.
  2. December 8 - 6:00 PM. It started to snow. The first snow of the season and the wife and I took our cocktails and sat for hours by the window watching the huge soft flakes drift down from heaven. It looked like a Grandma Moses Print. So romantic we felt like newlyweds again. I love snow! December 9 - We woke to a beautiful blanket of crystal white snow covering every inch of the landscape. What a fantastic sight! Can there be a more lovely place in the Whole World? Moving here was the best idea I've ever had. Shoveled for the first time in years and felt like a boy again. I did both our driveway and the sidewalks. This afternoon the snowplow came along and covered up the sidewalks and closed in the driveway, so I got to shovel again. What a perfect life. December 12 - The sun has melted all our lovely snow. Such a disappointment. My neighbor tells me not to worry, we'll definitely have a white Christmas. No snow on Christmas would be awful! Bob says we'll have so much snow by the end of winter, that I'll never want to see snow again. l don't think that's possible. Bob is such a nice man, I'm glad he's our neighbor. December 14 - Snow lovely snow! 8" last night. The temperature dropped to -20. The cold makes everything sparkle so. The wind took my breath away, but I warmed up by shoveling the driveway and sidewalks. This is the life! The snowplow came back this afternoon and buried everything again. I didn't realize I would have to do quite this much shoveling, but I'll certainly get back in shape this way. I wish l wouldn't huff and puff so. December 15 - 20 inches forecast. Sold my van and bought a 4x4 Blazer. Bought snow tires for the wife's car and 2 extra shovels. Stocked the freezer. The wife wants a wood stove in case the electricity goes out. I think that's silly. We aren't in Alaska, after all. December 16 - Ice storm this morning. Fell on my butt on the ice in the driveway putting down salt. Hurt like hell. The wife laughed for an hour, Which I think was very cruel. December 17 - Still way below freezing. Roads are too icy to go anywhere. Electricity was off for 5 hours. I had to pile the blankets on to stay warm. Nothing to do but stare at the wife and try not to irritate her. Guess I should've bought a wood stove, but won't admit it to her. God I hate it when she's right. I can't believe I'm freezing to death in my own living room. December 20 - Electricity's back on, but had another 14" of the darn stuff last night. More shoveling. Took all day. Gosh darn snowplow came by twice. Tried to find a neighbor kid to shovel, but they said they're too busy playing hockey. I think they're lying. Called the only hardware store around to see about buying a snow blower and they're out. Might have another shipment in March. I think they're lying. Bob says I have to shovel or the city will have it done and bill me. I think he's lying. December 22 - Bob was right about a white Christmas because 13 more inches of the white crap fell today, and it's so cold it probably won't melt till August. Took me 45 minutes to get all dressed up to go out to shovel and then I had to pee. By the time I got undressed, peed and dressed again. I was too tired to shovel. Tried to hire Bob who has a plow on his truck for the rest of the winter; but he says he's too busy. I think the jerk is lying. December 23 - Only 2" of snow today. And it warmed up to 0. The wife wanted me to decorate the front of the house this morning. What is she nuts!!! Why didn't she tell me to do that a month ago? She says she did but I think she's lying. December 24 - 6". Snow packed so hard by snowplow, l broke the shovel. Thought I was having a heart attack. If I ever catch the jerk who drives that snow plow I'll drag him through the snow by his balls and beat him to death with my broken shovel. I know he hides around the corner and waits for me to finish shoveling and then he comes down the street at a 100 miles an hour and throws snow all over where I've just been! Tonight the wife wanted me to sing Christmas carols with her and open our presents, but I was too busy watching for the gosh darn snowplow. December 25 - Merry freaking Christmas! 20 more inches of the gosh darn slop tonight. Snowed in. The idea of shoveling makes my blood boil. God I hate the snow! Then the snowplow driver came by asking for a donation and I hit him over the head with my shovel. The wife says I have a bad attitude. I think shes a fricking idiot. If I have to watch "It's A Wondeful Life" one mor time, I'm going to stuff her into the microwave. December 26 - Still snowed in. Why the heck did I ever move here? It was all HER idea. She's really getting on my nerves. December 27 - Temperature dropped to -30 and the pipes froze, plumber came after 14 hours of waiting for him, he only charged me 1,400 to replace all my pipes. December 28 - Warmed up to above -20. Still snowed in. THE WIFE is driving me crazy!!! December 29 - 10 more inches. Bob says I have to shovel the roof or it could cave in. That's the silliest thing I ever heard. How dumb does he think I am? December 30 - Roof caved in. I beat up the snow plow driver he is now suing me for a million dollars not only the beating I gave him but also for trying to shove the broken snow shovel where the sun doesn't shine. The wife went home to her mother. 9" predicted. December 31 - I set fire to what's left of the house. No more shoveling. January 8 - Feel so good. I just love those little white pills they keep giving me. Why am I tied to the bed? Happy New Years Mooniacs!
  3. Multipost......Dooh! Happy New Years Mooniacs!
  4. I also converted a couple pair of 13.4's to anr with the headsets inc kit. Great product and great customer support. I was always going to pick up a set of clarity alofts to try out, but after reading this I'm now thinking of trying the halos.
  5. You are correct, I'm in Minot, ND. "ice skating to school in the dark" lol, that's good stuff It's a blistering 9 now, so I might go out snowmobiling.
  6. Its been -10 here all week, im not sure a 100w bulb would do much for me.
  7. All ads-b 799. soundsl like all the gas in my town. Ive been bummed about this myself. FF says I should support local ND stuff, ie stratus, and I tell them to make a more elegant soln first. I shall wait.
  8. Very nice. I like the plywood enclose. My fbo went from 15 to 25 to 50$ a preheat in a matter of a month 2 yrs ago, so ive been trying everything. I went with a propane tube heater and scat for fast heating out the back of my expedition straight to the cylinder. ~30minutes@10f Tanis with a ceramic heater in the cab controlled by a 35$ cellphone activated switch. ~3-4hrs@10f Today im going to make the milk house heater as you have, yet try to run the intake of it to the other cylinder bank circulating the flow. Ill test for overheat in my garage before use.
  9. My 35lb& 70lb kids, and 100lb gma fly regularly in the back of the family truckster.
  10. 212kts in my c this summer.
  11. Lol "uh...N123heavy, your coming in too hot, and advise, their was a pop up notam, you must divert due to weight restriction"
  12. Happy Holidays!

Happy Holidays to you and your family.

  13. Thats dependant on your individual usage. Im my 24cf I still have ~3-4 hours with 500lbs, and find myself refilling at that point. If the family were in there for our NY xc trips, I make sure its on the full side.
  14. LMAO Id practice go arounds like in training if my wife would allow it! I dont know if I could punch off 12 landings an hour though...anymore.
  15. 16574, Completely agree, was just wording it Eastwood fashion.(Dirty harry,"a mans gotta know his limits") I was absolutely inferring utilizing proper ADM when I made that statement. Im guessing that my ipad with access to radar, gps, center, and the mtn top awos stations make passage much easier than say, 50yrs ago. The fact the pic is ultimately in charge is a given. Also all JMHO, and a 600hr one at that! Go ahead, throw tomatoes! Happy Holidays everyone, I really enjoy this forum, almost as much as my mooney.
  16. My local fbo charges 42$ to refill, no matter the size. I purchased my o2 tank about 10yrs ago for roughly $300 and the adpt hose from sportys for $55. I exchanged it a couple weeks ago for $35. I think its ~120cf. Definitely more convenient, and cost effective. Note-If any bigbuck guys wanna argue that having the fbo fill it on a phone call and their time value etc, is more convenient and cost effective for them, should send some cabbage my way. The only semi-drawback is having to take it back and forth from plane to home. But, the bonus is that after too much eggnog, you can strap on the o2 in the morning.......
  17. I had read about this on Kathryns report when it showed up. Not looking good, my prayers with the family. Mtn flying requires specific knowledge and training.(and a turbo helps tons) There are go/.no go days and a thorough education of how to decide the difference is key. *That does not insure safe passage; weather changes quickly, and the knowledge on how to deal with mtn scenarios becomes key. I fly around Colorado/Wy/Mt a lot, and its fairly easy with todays technology;ie weather reporting stations, on board equipment.... Ive talked to more than one pilot at an FBO in texas, ok, kansas, that says they steer clear of the mtns, no matter what. To me thats like the guys who dont fly at night. I guess a mans gotta know his limits.
  18. I have a skyox 24cu.ft. system that lasts almost 23hrs(advertised) on a cannula, 8-10hrs on a mask. I usually get 16-18hrs with a cannula at 16-18000 to keep me around 96%. My wife needs a lot more o2 than I to keep at the same level, therefore together we burn a lot more. Not sure how much more, havent quantified it yet. (quantifying wifes needs=scary business) I also fill off my "welding" tank. It works great, saves time, and money. I let it get to 500lbs and that is when I have it filled for 35$.
  19. I fly as high as I can, ie 6-8000<1hr and fl12-fl23<3hrs in my stuperC.
  20. I have a rajay turbo on my m20c and really enjoy the utility it adds to the plane. Heres my experience with it in under a year (around 300hrs) and through an annual. I have a lot of questions and this will probably open the flood gate of what ive been doing wrong/right. So far ive found I can crank it up to take off on high da runways(29/27) and not worry about loading, clear weather tops going east(usually), run lop with the turbo running(I dont without, the warm air charge seems to distribute nicely), and oh yeah, run 23/25@flight levels all day all the while never having even close to a heat issue. The mooney wing really seems to cruise up high. Ive seen 220knts gs on the gps, and I think Ill see faster. Maintenance wise, my first annual with it was uneventful. I have to soak the turbo filter every 25 hrs to clean it up. Id like to find a screw on or alternate style to the bronze filter. Opposed to having a 231, this was a bargain; the motor is solid, and I can still keep my cherokee.
  21. 163MPG! Im at a loss for words. Im always better then my expedition on any "expedition" with my mooney. I do far less in my cherokee at any burn rate.
  22. Im super happy pulling 23/25@fl17.5@10gph with my old and ugly 63C. Best ive seen is 219knts on the gps. Yet, If I wanted fuel economy Id be in a diff game. I fly to fly fast. With a turbo on my old c I get the best of both worlds....But as an old motor-head, there is no replacement for displacement, and id love to have a rocket.
  23. Spending countless hrs/$ obtaining differing levels of aptitude in differing fields......LOTS OF CABBAGE and semi-fulfilling. Spending time on/in my planes.......priceless and addicting Having to let someone else work on it....painful
  24. I agree completely with this statement.
  25. Sure he looks like hes going to make it fine to the blacktop...if you forget about the threshhold.....But your correct, Im not sure myself, just a guess. The faa publishes a road 30ft from the end of the runway and "Apch Ratio 18:1 Fm Dsplcd Thld to Power Pole 468 Ft Fm Dsplcd Thld 182 Ft Right" We know where it leads from there.
