  1. I think that is a different plane than the one I mentioned. That looks to be a 77 model year but even so, someone mentioned at that time, "over priced" at 60k.
  2. I corresponded with that owner, got plenty of photos and information. I know it had an inop autopilot and not super radio gear but not what I considered plagued with problems? It was not loaded with gadgets, glass panels etc., just a good basic plane at what appears might be a realistic transaction price for that plane?
  3. I'm a realist, I think the E's are more stable in asking prices but I think the transaction prices, when they happen, are lower also. I wish I knew the sales prices, it would negate the reason I posted.
  4. Like probably everyone on the forum, I keep an eye on asking prices and availability of Mooneys. I have an E model but have a feeling that one of these days I will move into a J. Prices seem to be down a lot but still very few sell. Some are on the market for years not just months. I know radios play a big part in the pricing but putting radios aside what are these things really worth, at what $ do they actually change hands? I don't need a glass panel just descent radios of which almost any Mooney will have. There was an '81 201 on this forum for sale earlier this year for about 60k. It looked like a nice plane. He lowered the price to 55k then 50k and finally 45k obo before it finally sold and probably for less. To me, this is a good representation of what this particular plane was worth when the time comes to sell and this plane was pretty typical of what I see not selling and priced in the 60k to 80k range. What do you folks think? Anybody have any first hand experience?
  5. I've been contemplating a trip to Denver to visit my kids and son in law. I've never been exposed to high altitude landings and take offs. Are there any good rule of thumb practices for leaning at take off or missed landings with full power go around. Also, on landing, what should be considered full rich?
  6. I had the same problem. I noticed after landing that my belt was loose. I didn't like that at all. I found a couple small wide rubber bands and stretched one over each release which makes it a lot more difficult to accidentally release the buckle.
  7. Clarence, the plane is tied down with him so no transport. I actually like the guy and did confront him and he knocked the price down some what. I do think he marked all the items up and I expect some of that but not as drastically as this case. I think he might use better judgement next time. With bills like that I would just throw in the towel or find another place to tie down and get my maintenance. I also learned a lesson: don't just walk over and ask for work to be done; best to research parts prices, and check to see if I am actually able to do the work myself. Maybe I learned a worth while lesson.
  8. Shop rate is $70/hr. Told me he paid over $600 for the two hoses.
  9. I'm surprised no one has asked how much the charge was to replace the two lines and put on a new alternator belt. Thanks to the replies so far I think my suspicions are correct. My estimates are: $100 for the belt and $300 for the two oil cooler hoses. They did take off my oil cooler and I had them reinstall my old one. I think the prop/ alternator belt is 2 1/2 hrs, the oil lines and oil cooler together is 2 hrs. Total time is 4 1/2 hrs. The shop bill is $1200 which I have not paid as of yet. Subtract the parts at $400 from the $1200 bill leaves $800 for labor. $800/4.5 hrs is about $175/hr. So, is that out of line?
  10. I think these would not be considered hydraulic hoses but rather oil hoses, much lower pressure?
  11. I thought they were cheap also until I had mine replaced. That's what this topic is about. I'm trying to figure out if I'm cheap or I'm just missing something.
  12. Now that would have been a great idea except the job was already completed!
  13. While I'm asking cost experience, what about changing the alternator belt, the prop does need to be pulled and reinstalled.
  14. I didn't know I could have changed those hoses myself. That is nice to know. I'm trying to get an idea of what hoses cost to have made now. Under an hour labor is part of what I was looking for. The job was completed already but I thought the price was high and looking for real world numbers just to confirm my thoughts.
  15. Hmmmm, maybe I'm mot stupid after all.
  16. Any body ever replace their oil cooler hydraulic lines? Would like to know what to expect on cost of the two hoses and labor. This is for a 66 E model.
  17. There is an early E model on the Colorado Springs craigslist for $11000. Flew last year. Case is cracked. The owner died earlier this year and his wife is now selling.
  18. Neil, pm sent.
  19. Clarence, Alternator is an InterAv, 50 amp. PN: 015-01237. The pulley is 3 inches in diameter and about 1.375 inches from the pulley face to the alternator fan.
  20. Pat, I'd naturally like to get back in the air ASAP but who knows. Let me see what turns up.
  21. Clarence, I'll try to get that info tomorrow.
  22. My oil cooler sprung a leak over the weekend. Any body have one they would sell?. Also, still looking for the alternator pulley.
  23. I have a 66 M20E model that has the alternator upgrade. I am about out of adjustment to tighten the belt and purchased a new belt which will probably fix the slip problem for awhile. However, it appears the alternator pulley is quit worn and certainly warrants a replacement. Hoping someone might have a good used one for sale.
  24. I bought my ipad a few years ago. It has 16 gigs of memory. I was able to download FlyQ and use it for navigation, but when an upgrade came available for the FlyQ program I didn't have enough memory to download the upgrade. At this point my subscription is running out and I can't even renew as the format I have is no longer supported. I'm not a computer geek so I may just have to buy a new pad with more memory. I don't feel to bad though as I would prefer a smaller tablet like the mini. I also heard that Apple advertises 16 gb memory which it does have but 3 of those 16 are used up just running the device.
