  1. there is a relay on the speaker in the overhead vents,,,this relay should open when you transmit,if the relay gets stuck by age or moisture,by a left open vent on the top of the plane,rain may have dripped from vent,,,when you turn on master avionics you will get feedback through the speaker, and i mean bad........replace relay.....
  2. i had this problem. take the sender off and shake it out on a piece of white paper,you will see particles of possible hose material, very fine ,,,,soak gage in fuel over night.than shake out as hard as you can,to remove particles,keep repeating until noting comes out of sender,,put back on, the problem should go away for a while,hose material will contaminate sender again,but will take a while...shake fitting end over paper,dirt will come out,,,hope this helps

  6. i would look at all connections at the alternator, alot of vibration,,may be corroded field terminal...
  7. there is a trick to putting shims in..they have thin spacers and thick 32nd and 64th inch.....on 2 of the shims thick and two thin,,,,make a cutout all the way through the shim approx 1 inch,,,,this way you can slide the shim in just loosen engine mount,,,add thick or thin shim..put on the cowling bolt it up and see which corner mount will move the spinner in the exact position..to line up with cowling.... really very easy job you will need an engine hoist to move engine in certain positions
  8. i have a 78 j model mooney,i love this airplane with all my heart,however if you get any earlier model e or f ..you wont be satisfied,youll keep pouring money into it to get it to a 201j model..just take your time in this market plenty of good 201s exist,,,be very careful of leaking tanks,,corrosion under pilots side window,and tail trim bushings worn,very expensive..please please do a pre purchase inspection on the airframe,from a very reputible mooney dealer,,,,worth you spending 1500.00 up front,not to find a 10.000 dollar repair at your first annual,,remember pay me now or pay me later ,you choose anyway good hunting......

  11. i have had rigging done to my m20j, they did an excellent job.but did take a few days,,cannot be windy,must be calm days,they have to rig the ailerons and then tweeeek,,,,it ...they will even streighten the controls,so they are level in flight..bowie maryland,freeway airport.mooney service center 1 301 262-6544 good luck mooney2201
  12. check the sniffel valve on the botton of the engine....if the valve hangs up it will run lousy,,,,,poor idle ect.....
