  4. Our newer to us IA says that the Mooney factory recommends an inspection of the landing gear box (1st at 500 hours, after 1st: every 200 Hours). (Includes: Take off box, open box, check for wear, lub, close up, return to aircraft) at a cost of ten hours of labor. Our Log books do not ever show any inspections have been done even after 40 annuals for our 1975 M20C. Has any one every had this inspection done or heard of? Any advise please? (to do it or not to do). Thanks all

  11. Will look in my aircraft log books (at hanger) on Saturday for the name of the expensive (but worth it) solution that our IA used to remove the fuel tank sealant. The IA bragged on the ease of removing the sealant with it.
  12. Bringing an M20a back to life after setting in a hanger over 12 years. Have several extra pieces that we have not discovered it true place within the plane yet. Need what ever manuals, POH, service docs, and/or parts documentation we can borrow that is out there. We can scan hardcopies. Will post a pic or 2 next week of this wooden classic. THANKS

  14. This top view shows the two wires going from the device. The two wires go under the landing gear spring to a hole in the forward side of this wing panel section
  15. A pic from further way
  16. Another side of the electrical device
  17. This is an end view of the electrical device
  18. Whit the inspection plate removed from the wing this is a side view of the electrical device. It is about 5/8 inch high. There is 4 small feet that are about 1/16 inch tall on the same side that the three screws that secures the device to the inspection plate. Note the two electrical wires that are soldered on and the third terminal is not connected. The device is about 1 inch long, 1/2 inch wide, and 5/8 inch tall. No visable stock numbers.
  19. What is it? Located in the under side of the starboard wing on the inspection panel nearest the landing gear door. Hole is about 3/4 inch long and 1/8 inch wide.
  20. Do not have an hsi/rmi or other remote sensing compass. Do have a vertical card compass which is so much better than the OEM compass
  21. On my 1975 M20C, one of the inspection panels on the right wing (about 1 foot from the gear door and the rearward inspection plate) has a small slot about 1/8 inch wide and about 1/2 inch long. On removing this inspection plate, there is a small electricl device (maybe a little over 1/2 inch long, 1/4 inch wide by 1/2 inch tall) that has three soldering pins on top of which two pins have white wires attached to the pins. The third pin is not use. The dark brown or black device has four small legs that allow the device to set about 1/16 of an inch above the inspection plate that it is attached. I have looked at the wiring diagrams, but just have not figured out what this electric device could be used for. or what it is.. I think I remembered someone asking about this same thing on this great site, but could not find the article again. THANKS all, Ron Clicking on the image will bring up additiional descriptive words under the enlarged image http://mooneyspace.com/gallery/image/33456-what-is-it-outside-view/ http://mooneyspace.com/gallery/image/33457-what-is-it-side-1-view/ http://mooneyspace.com/gallery/image/33458-what-is-it-side-2-view/ http://mooneyspace.com/gallery/image/33459-what-is-it-side-3-view/ http://mooneyspace.com/gallery/image/33460-what-is-it-top-perspective-view/ http://mooneyspace.com/gallery/image/33461-what-is-it-top-view/

  24. Looking for a repacement part number for the original part number 333B of the CHT probe Can not locate a CHT Probe part number 333B, new or used, anywhere. Any clues of a direct replacement part number where we do not have to have the guage needle calibrated with a needle bend or a 81 ohm resister? Original probe is a Steward Warner brand. This is for a 1975 Mooney M20C. THANKS all
