  1. What is the extent of the damage. Any more pictures. Times? Avionics?
  2. Does anyone know what mag part number I would need from spruce, they are the original bandix. Does anyone have a used mag that will work for sale. It's a 62c
  3. I am having mag trouble again. I originally had a bad lead, it had almost rubbed in half. It was causing a mag drop of 300 and a bad miss. I fixed that and now am getting a drop of 150 on the right and hardly any on the left. Doesn't seem to be a miss and I can still get full rpm on the right. Any suggestions?
  4. I need the grimes overhead cabin light. I really just need the on/off switch but all the salvage yards sell them as the whole assembly. I would be interested in either one if somebody has one
  5. If the feds stop by, nicely ask them to leave.
  6. I ordered a skytronics lead kit from quality aircraft accessories. It is a 6' lead with the spark plug end already installed. Cut it to the length you need and install it in the mag. $32, a lot cheaper than a harness.
  7. Thanks for all the great info. I did find a very bad spot in the lead. What are my options besides buying a whole new harness. If there are no other options, what about the aero-lite harness, they seem to be the cheapest.
  8. I can't seem to type in the new topic or reply blocks with my iPad, I can type on the notes app then cut and paste. I was hoping someone has figured this out.
  9. My 62C is giving a bad mag check on the left side. I checked the leads and one is intermittent. Not Sure if it would be the wire or mag. The cylinder with the bad wire is running colder when run on the bad mag. Plugs are new and checked good. The only prior ignition problems are a little miss in the engine after about 30 min of flight. The bad mag check is dropping about 300 rpm.
  10. I need to replace the bushings and bolts in my tail section also. Anyone know the amount of hours or cost.
  11. I bought the smaller bulb for my 62c at sun and fun, turns out I need the larger one so we could swap even if you want
  12. I should have said quick fasteners instead of zus, I wouldn't care what type. I thought some of the later model vintage had them.
  13. I was wandering if it was legal or possible to replace all the screws on the cowl of my 62 M20C with the zus fasteners. I'm sure it would be a lot of work, but it would be worth it for me.
  14. Just wandering if anyone is using the tempest sparkplugs. I have a 62C and wanted to know, is everyone using the rem38e. Is anyone using the rem40e. The tempest plugs are cheaper and I really like there oil filters.
  15. $32k for 2000 hrs on engine seems high, also the 35 an hour for maintence at 125 hrs comes to $4375 a year which is extremly high.
  16. (a) The pilot in command of each aircraft operated in controlled airspace under IFR shall report as soon as practical to ATC any malfunctions of navigational, approach, or communication equipment occurring in flight. I wouldn't consider an AI navigational, approach, or communication equipment
  17. I don't intend or want to offend anyone but mooneys are not that hard to fly. There is only about 5 mph difference in the flaps up stall speed of a 172 and full flaps in a M20C. So if you have done any no flap landings in a 172 there is not much difference in the approach speeds. The climb rate is about the same, weights are about the same, hp is only 20 different. Yes it is a little harder than some trainners but its not a super complex hard to fly airplane so when a new pilot is interested in getting into a Mooney why do we want to make them think its a rocketship.
  18. KBHM (Birmingham, AL), KMEM (Memphis, TN), KJAN (Jackson, MS) are three airports around me that will charge you if you stop just to drop off passangers. I know most will waive the fee if you buy fuel but it is usually way overpriced fuel and my airplane will usually not hold the min purchase to waive the fee if I fly there direct and I am full when I leave. None of these airports have free parking in any of the airport directories. I get the parking meter comparison but Usually if you are willing to park a little further away you can find free parking. Also the meters are put there by the city and the money goes to them. The money doesn't go to the airport when you pay an fbo a ramp fee. All I am trying to say is that I think we are getting taken advantage of at the bigger airports. I am just wandering if others have found ways to land for free.
  19. I am tired of airport managers and board members thinking they own the airport or are the airport police. Most airports are public airports paid for by our tax dollars. For example the other day an airport manager got on an instructor for not yelling clear loud enough. First of all there is no reg saying you have to yell clear, much less on a specific volume. There is a board member who does what ever the heck he wants but you miss a radio call and he starts putting you down on the radio. Last I checked a comm radio is not even required equipment for flying in uncontrolled airspace. If you are acting this way or know of others who are it is time to stop. We have enough crap to worry about.
  20. How do FBO's get away with charging ramp fees or landing fees. The airports are public airports and the fees are not going to the airport. I understand they have to make money but they it was their choice to open a business. How long would a store last if they charged you for coming in if you don't buy anything. If its a public airport should there not be public parking. Can we tell the controller we want to taxi to public or free parking. What can they do if you refuse to pay $25 to drop off passengers.
  21. There is no such thing as being to ambitious, why would you want to wait to buy a Mooney. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to fly a complex or a Mooney. If it takes you 10 hours to learn how to control the prop and put the gear up and down you probably should reconsider flying. The military starts you with a 1200 hp turboprop after your private.
  22. Jerry I sent you a PM
  23. If you are not going through a 141 school, I think you can only use 10 hours in the sim. Might want to check that out. Even if you are a 141 school the max is 20.
  24. Me and my wife travel with a 90lb lab and a 60lb golden. The lab goes to sleep and the golden loves to look out the window. Most fbo's are very helpful and love to see them come.
