  1. 1963 M20C at the paint shop...plane gets painted, time to balance ailerons and rudder...all are too heavy on trailing edge. 1963 MM has no info on adding or subtracting weight. Email to Mooney Tech support engineers explaining issue...after a few conversations Mooney Engineers say " use detailed instructions from the M20J MM, the methods apply to all models". Problem solved...Almost...now The paint shop wants to know max weight for ailerons and rudder...(for paint thickness) M20J MM states no max Weight, just paint and balance. Anyone ever hear of a max weight for the ailerons or rudder? Thanks
  2. Had the same problem with the NAV light switch...replaced NAV lights with LED's . Problem Solved.
  3. Thanks guys ...I'll look for the handle to the flapper...
  4. On my 63C, I have a avionics cooling vent (front left)... Can it be opened and closed? Is it needed when I have an avionics cooling fan? It lets the cold air inside during winter...also not sure when flying in rain if water is getting inside. Keep it for back-up cooling or plug it? Do all mooneys have this or did it go away? Thanks
  5. Thanks Phil, good info on the icing...what kinda temps are we talking in the summer ? Hope it's not as bad as Carolina heat in August ... Larryb... 10. Thanks for the info Ron, I'm going to be based in oakland and use the mooney to commute. I'm leaning towards columbia because they have Wx reporting. Looks like a 35 min flight or if need be a 2.5 hour drive?..I keep the plane tied down now , so I'm not looking for a hangar. I also looked at Placerville...thanks
