Fri, Jan 07, 2011 Aero-TV: AvGas Alternatives: The Swift Fuel Proposition (Part 3) The Future Of 'Motion Lotion' Remains An Important Concern (Part 3) There are few more contentious issues facing GA right now as the question about what will eventually replace 100LL. There are few folks working hard to address the issue, but they all report that they're facing serious hurdles in not only perfecting their product but wading through the bureaucratic processes necessary to make their fuel a reality. ANN had the chance to spend some quality time with a number of the folks behind the Swift Fuel program, one of he more prominent players in the race to replace 100LL -- and the conversations were intriguing -- and educational. watch-it! MoGas?

Check out autofuelstc.com Q.Why isn't the Mooney M-20-C (or Piper Comanche) approved? A. The Mooney and Comanche both experienced vapor lock problems when they were tested. We solved the vapor lock problem, but could not overcome pneumatic lock. Pneumatic lock takes place when the fuel boils as it enters the carb. The engine then dies due to an overrich mixture. This is just the opposite of a vapor lock where the engine quits or runs poorly due to a lean mixture. The better an airplane performs, the more difficult it is to get it through the flight test program.
