  2. Sold! Congrats to new owner! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Thanks everyone! Will entertain reasonable offers -- don't be shy. I'm stepping up soon and can't justify two planes.
  4. Family out grew it, sadly. Would love to keep, but can't justify 2 planes Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  6. PIREP after repair: I have flown couple times since the repair -- all seems to work as expected. The first power-on required extra time for the 430 to "find itself", but after that, no warning message or issues that I see so far. Thankfully everything worked out great. -Dave
  7. Just wanted to report back incase anyone finds this thread later. We sent the fuel selector out to LASAR, they overhauled and after 4 hours of flight time, all is working perfectly. No more leaks Thanks everyone for all the input. Dave
  8. Its at a local shop. They could replace the battery without having to send to Garmin. I'll provide a PIREP once they've completed the work.
  9. Anyone going? http://www.socialflight.com/events/11th-annual-rio-colorado-flying-poker-run.html
  10. I’m a owner-pilot that loves to fly for just about any reason. Flying is a hobby and not work, so I get to enjoy it. As a pilot, I feel the need to have a “mission” because of the financial nature of aviation. Therefore, I find it difficult sometimes to find new places/destinations worth flying too alone. As a software developer by trade, I’m constantly thinking about ways to apply my professional skillset to aviation. One idea I keep circling around lately is the, “virtual poker run”. With mobile applications and connectivity pretty widely available today, it's very possible to create software that could allow an individual to “checkin” to a specific geo-location. This makes it possible to organize and participate in a “virtual poker run” with my fellow pilot friends. Before I set out to create such a product, I'd love to get feedback from other pilots and aircraft owner-pilots. While I suspect I’m not the only one thinking this way, sure would be nice to know others would possibly use and enjoy such a product. There are endless possibilities in my mind with an application like this, and many reasons it would benefit the aviation community and GA pilots. If you wouldn’t mind responding with your thoughts, I’d love to hear them positive or negative. Cheers! Dave
  11. Thanks for the lead -- if the local connection doesn't work out, this might be nice alternative to Garmin directly. -Dave
  12. Thanks Sherman, I've got a call into local shop, if that doesn't pan out Garmin is next on the list. -Dave
  13. So I just noticed a "low battery" message on my 430 on the last flight. Searching around, seems Garmin won't work on anything non-WAAS now. Having them replace would require an upgrade to WAAS, seems like its an expensive route to change a damn battery. There seems to be some brave soles that DIY it. While I'm pretty good at soldering, I'd hate to accidentally turn my unit into a giant paper weight. I saw few reports of local radio shops replacing the battery, but no one mentions the actual shop. Anyone go thought this already or have any recommendations? I suspect my 430W is about to experience the same thing, so might consider replacing both at the same time... Thanks, Dave
  14. Really like that perspective. When I get a gopro, that will be the location to mount it. Nice vid!
  15. Thanks for the tips! This will definitely help me narrow down an asking price Cheers! Dave
  16. Correction: Aircraft Total Time: - 2500 Hours (estimated, logbooks still at the shop)
  17. I’m reluctantly coming to the conclusion that I’ll need to step up to bigger aircraft. With my family growing (now 4 of us), my M20C just doesn’t have enough space / plus gear. I would appreciate your thoughts on what you think she’s worth in this market? Clearly I have way more avionics than any typical C, so I figured I'd poll the experts for pricing advice. Here's the details: 1968 M20C Mooney s/n 680077 Engine: - Lycoming O-360-A1D Prop: |- 3 Blade Hartzell Aircraft Total Time: - 1500 Hours (estimated, logbooks still at the shop) Engine & Prop Time: - 800 Hours since overhauled (estimated, logbooks still at the shop) Avionics: - Aspen PFD Pro - Garmin 430W - Garmin 430 (non-WAAS) - Garmin 327 Transponder - Garmin 340 Audio Panel - Prewired for Garmin 496 (ship power/fused) - Brittian Accutrak - JPI fs450 Fuel totalizer - Vertical card compass Miscellaneous: - 924 useful - Extensive panel upgrade - All new circuit breakers - 1 piece windshield - J-Bar Manual Gear - Hydraulic flaps - PC wing leveler (working great) - Upgraded Pilot/Copilot seat belts (w/Shoulder Harness) - Engine cowling plug covers - Kennon Aircraft Sunshields - Interior - 5 - Exterior Paint - 6 - Engine overhauled due to prop strike before I purchased in 2008 - Hangered since 2008 Recent Maintenance: - Annual completed 9/2015 - Fresh W&B - 2015 - Overhauled Fuel selector - 2015 - New Battery - 2015 - All new hoses & brake lines - 2015 - New Throttle cable - 2013 - All new plugs - 2013 - All AD's complied - Complete logs Here are some pictures of the panel before & after: https://goo.gl/photos/b2KK2gbs4KkS5MmH6 Thanks, -Dave
  18. Noticed you're flyin a C as well :) How does she do in the low teens while flying IFR? I've been reluctant to get instrument current around these parts (Boise & Sierras) being that the MEA's are so darn high. I'd prefer to fly on IFR flight plan (especially to SoCal), but never thought the C would do very well up there.

      xrs135

I popped up to 14k on that flight in particular... and was still pulling 500-700fpm all the way up!

As long as you aren't loaded down, I think the C performs wonderfully into the teens. The bigger problem with flying IFR around here, is that you are usually put right into the ice at altitudes that you need to fly at. For that reason, I'm almost alway VFR... but that being said, I still go up to 12,500ft (westbound over the Sierras) almost every single time that I fly.

  19. Enjoyed the vid! Makes me want to get my IPC and take advantage of the the cold winter temps! Noticed the iphone you have mounted on the co-pilot side running a "backup" EFIS -- curious, what app? You gave me great idea for my old iphone now Cheers! -Dave
  20. I'm in (from Boise, ID) depending on final destination and weather. +1.5
  21. Alrighty then, looks like I'll send it for overhaul -- seems to make the most sense after hearing from you guys. Thanks for all the feedback!
  22. Just wrapped up another annual, and low and behold, the dang fuel selector valve won't reseal after inspection. Anyone have any advice? We've tried several times, with no luck. I guess I'm looking at sending it out for overhaul. It works great, except for the leaking. Would hate to have to overhaul this turkey every annual just to get it sealed up. Anyone have any tips? Cheers, dave
  23. Might be interested if those will fit my M20C.
  24. Hi Randy, have not made the trip just yet. Plans are delayed slightly. Have some real estate to finish unloading before we head outta town. What airport are you based at in Boise area? Any tips I should know about the area?
