  2. Use the airspeed safety switch . Only works above 60 knots. It's the same switch that prevents gear operation on the ground
  3. The beech guy is correct Mooney G1000 also uses the 7 th probe on the collector . This summary probe is used for cruise climb rough mixture setting Then the individual probes on the engine page is for cruise level leaning The g1000 setup uses the old school method due to certification standards
  4. Check this out, I called this company any had great service http://www.csobeech.com/duplicate-key.html
  5. That is a fuel cap lanyard .probably an old one or a spare
  6. I would think you loose some range and tax power due to lack of a ground plane. If it were better and cheaper with less drag I would guess mooney would had gone that way
  7. I have been a pilot for 25 years and I get a little quezy if I am a passenger. Especially in boats and the back of cars or buses. But if I am in control of the boat car or airplane it's never a problem. I would guess its because my brain knows what's going to occur before it does. Maybe let you son take the controls on the cruise portion and see if that helps, Don't let it discourage him, and take it easy on the controls and weather. An old airline guy told me " he tries to fly in such a way that the business guy in back never looks up from his paper even on landing"
  8. The unit in my Ovation is mounted on the aft bulkhead behind the baggage compartment . Power came from the Hobbs which was powered by the airspeed safety switch
  9. You are correct it is a 550G set up according to the STC by Midwest in addition to an prop governor adjustment the fuel flows arebalco set up to match the higher RPM The POH s are posted on the web somewhere
  10. Try and find one that has WASS and the G 700 autopilot. Some in 07 came with STEC autopilot and no WASS Mooney offered the upgrade for 60 k
  11. The kick is caused by the nose gear straightening upon retraction
  12. It was for looks Also for parts count reduction The rudder and elevators are the same Left and right are just turned over and the rudder is vertical
  13. It was for looks Also for parts count reduction The rudder and elevators are the same Left and right are just turned over and the rudder is vertical
  14. Get a 30-50 gallon plastic drum that you can transport with your car or truck. I place mine on an external hitch haul. Then get a low power electric pressure washer. The smaller the better as you do not need much pressure just enough to spray water for rinsing. With this setup you can wash your plane when you want and can take your time.
