  1. Turn the fuel valve to off to kill. I've been doing it for over a year to keep it from flooding and it has ran been running its best since.

  3. I had an avionics shop install some garmin radios and got the following weight and balance report. I know the moment was put in the arm at the top which created the new enormous moment. My question is the arm on the radios, all radios came out of the stock panel, shouldn't the arm be the same for all? The shop had 16 and 20 inches, since there on the same panel shouldn't it all be the same arm? see attached weight and balance Chris

    I think this side of the pond is more concerned with security and enterance into the US and ADSB gives them that ability.     Thanks for the info. I bought a GTX330 with Mode S about 9 months ago and really like it. Almost scarry to see all the traffic out there that I never received alerts from ATC. The upgrade to ADSB is $1200, just sending in to Garmin through a dealer. No work required on the plane.
  8. The new implementation of ADSB for traffic, flight information, and weather has already occurred in in many locations (FL, Gulf, AK, etc). Anyone know what it will take to get the weather and information? I know the GTX330 will get the traffic for a 530w or 430w but wonder what is coming down from design on new systems that will support ADSB. Anyone have any recommendations for owners?
  9. Had a GTX-330 installed utilizing mode s traffic alerts over a Garmin 430W. I have a light popping sound coming through my headset at a frequency of around every 3 seconds. When I turn off the transponder off the popping sound goes away. Anyone experience this problem?
  10. I don't listen to music flying IFR or VFR. I have tried tuning in the ADF to a local but it was more pain than it was worth. There is really too many things to do even on long flights and if music was on it would be annoying. NO NO

  12. I've had people ask me if my audio is stereo or mono. Just wondered how everyone else had their planes wired. Mine is mono sound. Mono-same sound in each ear cup of your headset. Stereo-the sound is divided between the ear cups.
  13. Thanks guys, you all have provided many options. I think your right fantom, he was using a common otc product. Mineral Spirits rings a bell. He was able to spray on and it cleanned well enough that there was no wiping required. SD-20 sounds like an easy use cleaning source not requiring an air compressor or air gun. I've used Simple Green in the past and it has worked well but still took some rubbing.

  15. I watched a mechanic clean the engine area and nose gear area with a small compressed air gun sprayer and solvent many years ago. I'm not sure what is the best solvent to use. Any recommendations?
  16. I'm sensitive to the weight increase and did not like to the B5 option.
  17. I've been cranking mine hot for 12 years. Before shut down I turn the fuel switch to off until it dies. Keeps fuel from running in the engine after it quits. Then 1/2" throttle, prime full rich 2-3 seconds, full lean, then crank, takes about 8 blades. Then slowly rich the mixture when it starts.

  19. When I start cold I use a 1/2" throttle and full rich, then turn on the fuel pump until the pressure comes up and count thousand 1 to 5 then turn off and pull full lean. It always starts on the 1-2 blades. The trick is to make sure you count to 5 after the fuel pressure is in the green.
  20. I've seem to have one problem after the next the last 3 months and have not had time to look into the PC system. I've put the other issues as higher priority since the system was coming up for upgrade. Brittain told me the whole system would be overhauled. I thought about looking for my own parts. I've wanting an AccuTrak II and Alt Hold system.
  21. I've been on the list for a Brittain Autopilot since February. I was told about 6-9 months backlog then as I got closer to the 6 months the backlog went to 12 months. I currently have a PC wing leveler issue and I'm sure it needs an overhaul. If I overhaul now I will have to overhaul all systems again when I'm up for the autopilot. So, I've been living with the wing leveler issue. Brittain may have a good system but if I can't get the service then whats the point.

  24. My transmit was stuck on a flight home over the weekend. Both radios display TX when selected through the Narco 136 audio panel. I pulled out the audio panel yesterday and turned on the radio and the TX was gone. Would this mean the audio panel has a problem? With the audio panel pulled I have no sound on the headsets. Not sure if I should. Anyone have any experience diagnosing this problem? Thanks.
