  1. A friend of mine who built a Velocity loves it, he hangars near me with another Velocity guy who just sheared off his nose gear pole/strut/whatever on landing. Some minor belly damage. Apparently the Velocity nose "Rod" support is a weak spot. That's just one data point, otherwise my friend and his Velocity group seem to love them. i can get you in touch with my friend if you are real serious, I'm sure he'd love to chat about Velocities with you.
  2. Whew. Great news though.

  10. Ummmm....it's actually quite easy. Happens daily actually when you have a high powered fighter jet. In the F-16, i can't tell you how many times I was in an engagement (in appropriate airspace), looked down and was well above the Mach.
  11. Thanks Chris, I don't have the ability to do preorders. It's all in the publisher's hands. Stay tuned to my Engine Out webpage, Facebook, or twitter feed...and you'll probably get blasted by me when it's ready. I'll post in here too. Appreciate the support! Thank you!
  12. Thanks guys! I appreciate it. Alain, unfortunately I cannot give you a PDF. A PDF is like "giving away the keys for free." It allows pirates and counterfeiting to occur much more easily...and that is something that the industry and my publisher spends time and money fighting. Sure, you can read a print book and pass it on to a friend, and that hurts authors and publishers alike, however a PDF allows for mass scale reproduction and dissemination. Sorry.
  13. Ha ha! Thanks Hyett
  14. Hi guys! Just a heads up that my best selling eBook Engine Out Survival Tactics will be available in print in a few weeks! Many of you and hundreds in the GA community have asked for the book in printed format. Well, it's about to happen! Stay tuned here, and on my webpage for details! Thanks again for your support! Nate
  15. Have a look at my book, link below. I specifically discuss Cirrus and Bonanza engine failures with 5 yrs of data collected by Mr. Kirby. His spreadsheet is on my webpage too. bottom line: mechanical engine failures are almost identical...nearly 20% of accidents for both types are mechanical engine stoppages (not fuel related). NTSB and FAA data also corroborates those numbers for decades. thanks!
  16. Welcome Marcus! Retired USAF and a Bonanza owner here, but I lurk around some. I used to work with some of your boys, from far above in my F-16. It was always a great day to be able to help them out on the ground. Have a look at my webpage when you have a minute and consider my book for pilots from a military perspective. I think you might learn some significant stuff that can help you be better and safer. again, welcome! Nate/Buster
  17. Merry Christmas Mooneyspace! Thanks for your support this year! Nate / Buster

  21. Jerry, Fantastic. Glad to hear you are working at it, and developing a currency or proficiency. I will add that using my 'hand method' and visually finding 6 degrees depression from the horizon is far more valuable than any widget in a piece of technology. While that tool is valuable, it can fail. Additionally, the small patch of turf at your 7 o'clock and near the wingtip will not be presented in the iPad. If you want to know instantly if you can make it to that patch in a glide...hand method works every time. Did it in the F-16. Thanks for the support. I think it's awesome you are working on engine outs!
  22. Chris, That's awesome! Establishing a valid and realistic glide for training is important. At worst, idle, clean and prop back is also a great secondary way for us complex drivers to at least practice something and develop the sight picture. Additionally, my Bonanza actually did better that the POH 1.7nm per 1,000 feet when clean, idle and prop back. It was cool to actually figure that out.
  23. Thanks for your support! I had fun and I hope I wasn't too boring! Let's make GA safer!
  24. Reminder: the webinar is tomorrow! I hope you can make it!
  25. Reminder: a week to go till the webinar!
