  1. George, after cleaning out your shorts...then you'd punch him in the nose a few times!
  2. I've seen a little of the same in my search for the best 252 I can afford. For me, I plan on financing a large chunk of the final purchase. I guess if I found the right plane, with a 'worn' engine for $25k less than the average, I would buy it and have it immediately overhauled while financing the additional $25k into the overall figure. Yeah, it's more financing, but it would be the right plane for me with a 'new' engine at the right price. It's a little more headache, but at least you have a starting point for the engine, vs hoping for the best on one with 800 hrs to go to TBO.
  3. Retards, makes me want to yell certain words at them.
  4. ILXLR8...which state? Of purchase or registration? thanx!
  5. I realize that this is a big question and every state is different, but I can't seem to find a lot of specific info about buying a plane and then paying taxes. Do you pay taxes to the seller, to the state where bought, or to the state where you register the plane? How does all that work, what are some assumed costs, and are there annual costs to watch out for too (with regard to taxes). Heard you might be able to register a plane in a tax free state, but that can be 'iffy' if you don't live there.
  6. So in my Mooney research, I have found a few possible planes, but each is lacking a little in the avionics that I think I want. I know the price for a G530 is around $15k, and an Aspen Pro is $10K. Can I just purchase these things and have an A&P put them in for labor, or is there more to it? I'm starting to see that getting the plane the way you want it first, may be cheaper than the upgrade route.
  7. When making an offer on a Mooney (or any plane for that matter), what, if any rules or "etiquette" are there? Do you offer after the pre-purchase inspection, or before? Do you offer 10% below the listed price or is that a slap in the face? Can you GET the plane less than the listed price?
  8. Saw that one! The 97 Encores are SWEET and what I'd be shootin' for. Gotta wait about a year, if it's still there, I may have to get serious. Thanks for the great tips and advice guys. Are there any big "Warnings" out there for any of the Ks or Ms? I ordered my "those Mooney airplanes" book from Mooneyland the other day, haven't seen it yet, did I waste my $39?
  9. If we go back to Texas, I will take you up on it!
  10. I'm looking to get a little experience in a Mooney. Does anyone know any mooneys for hire out here? I'd even be up to paying for fuel for just a friendly ride. thanks.
  11. Hey all. I'm the new guy. i'm about a year away from buying...seems like the mooney is the right plane for me and I have been researching for 3-4 years now. I am drawn to the 252. I'd love a bravo, but have read about more maint costs and such. The 252 seems like a sharp plane, reasonable maint and affordable overhauls. I've only got about $200k to "invest." Still debating on the turbo/non-turbo issue, but leaning for a turbo due to some western flying in the family mission. is TKS worth it too? Interested in your thoughts. Thanks! Buster
  12. Hi all, just found this great webpage while doing more research on Mooneys. Glad to have joined and thanks for having me on board. I'm about a year out from buying a plane. Been researching for YEARS, and the time will be right soon! Whatever I do and read, I keep coming back to the Mooney, sounds like the perfect plane for me and I hope to get a flight or two in one before making my decisions. Hope to hear from you and that you can answer my questions! Buster
