I'd consider selling mine to you at a discount depending on how much labor is involved in swapping them. My back left seat passenger could use a little more legroom...the fire extinguisher is already installed in front of/under the seat! The only thing I like about them is if I ever get a shorter student...

I have no idea on the speed claims, but you'll enjoy faster shop work and less labor expense because of that. The MX guys over at Don Maxwell like it a lot.

Is it moisture that is in the form of water on your vents or is it moisture that looks like clouds are blowing out of your vents?

Well I got a quote several months ago at ~400 TT and 2 hours in Mooneys for something like $1600 on a 231 and $1650 on a 201. Both were valued at between $90,000 and $95,000.

I also have a G model and like it. I was a partner in an Executive before owning this one, and was shopping for an F model when I found the "G". I couldn't resist it because it had lived in the desert its whole life and had no trace of corrosion anywhere. Mine is less modified that Aaron's, but I do have the Lake Aero Cowling mod, gap seals (both) and some fairing mods. The numbers that Aaron gives in his post are essentually correct. I live in an area with high mountains, so I tend to cruise at between 7 and 10 thousand. Sea level climb is not much different, but the airplane needs to work to get above 10k, which is an essentual difference. at 7000, with 22" and 2400 RPM, I expect to see about 132 knots and only slightly slower at 9000 with 20" and 2500 RPM. Fuel flow for both settings is about the same at 8.8 GPH. One other thing, I need to run ROP because the manifold system is not good enough for LOP operation, the spread on the temps is simply too wide. I don't know if the Powerflow exhaust would help that or not. Aaron might comment on that if he has tried it. The trade-off is that I get much easier starting, especially in hot conditions. I have a full IFR stack including DME, ADF and GPS, so my useful load is slightly lower, but I still can carry four with an hour plus, including a VFR reserve, and with three up and 40 pounds or so of bags I can get a 2.5 hour leg conservatively. The envelope is amazing, and it is practically impossible to load it too far aft. I also take some exception to the "piggish" comment. It "feels" like a Mooney and does have the sloppy control feel of a Cessna or PA-28. It lands like one too, so you better maintain a little higher proficiency that a driver of those aircraft might require, meaning that speed control is essential. RFB

Are yall talking fully loaded?

I'm getting 154-157 KTAS at 8000', WOT, 2550-2600RPM, 45-55 dF LOP on the richest cylinder. Best TAS I've seen was for a short time running ROP and I got 168 out of it. Mine has almost 7000 hours but also has some speed mods.

No I was just forwarding on the info for owners who are considering upgrading...however after finding out on another post what it involves, I won't exactly encourage looking at it! :-/

Maybe I'm just blind, but I cannot find the limitation in the POH for the placard that is between the rear two seats in my M20J. It reads something like "170 lbs. maximum on each seat back". I just want to verify that this is in fact a limitation and was not something added by a previous owner. 170lbs is used in the example weight and balance calculation, but I'm just not seeing it as a limitation. Of course you could get all technical with it and say that a person's full weight is not supported by the seatback only....
