  1. Looked at buying about 2 years ago. WOW was it well equipped. Thanks all Larry
  2. I am amazed that the A &P didnt try to sell you a new oil temp guage. Hard to imagine how some of these guys got their ticket. What is even more amazing is that some of them will chastize an aircraft owner for doing some of his own maintenance. larry
  3. Does anyone know about an OVATION N6792G based around Houston? Would like to visit with the owner about this plane. larry
  4. I fly an R model some and the a/c works great. The owner flies it and gripes about the a/c not working. It turned out he had the fresh air vent in the overhead on full open. The ram air was WAY more than the blower fan could overcome. Just a thought. larry
  5. Has anyone ever heard of a BROKER/DEALER TRYING TO SELL AN AIRPLANE THAT HASN'T LIED? lol!!!
  6. Am interested in what you find out. Most my trips are low to mid teens so dont see the high temps as would be 20k up. thanks larry
  7. If memeory serves me the Redline cdt is the max temperature for the tsio 360.
  8. However, I have also found that when I tried to fly the plane over FL200, the Intercooler is not much help. It certainly results in a high temperature drop from CDT to IAT, but the temperature problem I have experienced is a high CDT, which the intercooler does not help with (it is downstream of the compressor). The intercooler IS dropping the cdt temp by the value on the readout. Flip the switch on the intercooler guage to in ( should be the same as cdt) flip switch to out and record value. Put back to middle position for differential. The intercooler would do nothing in front of the turbo. larry
  9. Would the nod of approval be issued from a FSDO that cant or will not make a field approval or let a 337 with prior approved data pass? Would they allow a connecting rod manufactured without PMA to be used under the fit, form and function criteria? I dont think Mooney has "approved" screwdrivers or wrenches but I am sure when torque values are called they expect you to use a "calibrated" torque wrench. The gear rigging tools mentioned here may be identical to or even superior to the factory part BUT if you were to have a gear problem resulting in a incident or accident, I would almost bet the FSDO will not remember the conversation but will surely want to know who did the rigging and how was it done. I am sure the insurance co. want to know also. Larry
  10. Well put George. I remember when I was 2 I took a peice of bubble gum from the corner store while Mom was paying out. I was marched back in the store and my Mom forced me to apologize and pay for the gum (1c), When I got home OMG! I dont see this kids parent as being a Mom. Larry
  11. When I saw the tools on Ebay I was ready to buy. I then got to thinking about the tools not being "approved tools". While its sad to have a quality tool available at a reasonable price that allow us to maintain our planes I dont see it as being a "legal alternative" to the factory tool. An alternative shock rubber installation tool as I see it would be fine to use as it would be considered a device to allow maintenance to be performed. There are any number of ways to install the donuts without the tool but it is WAY easier to use them. The rigging tools would assure airworthiness to be maintained by allowing the torque to be measured. Using the NON FACTORY tools would be the same as using HOME DEPOT bolts and nut in place of AN fasteners. Larry
  12. Allsmiles Are you aware that the mooney spars are spliced from the factory? In the parting of a 231 the wings were removed as to veiw the fuel tank bays. There were more than several misdriven rivets along the top and bottom spar caps. I bring this up as my theory is as follows In an aircraft factory you have some workers that work for quiting time and you have some that take pride in their work. Some of the workers in plants are only there until other work can be had. There will not be one of them that will sign your new aircraft logbook as they had installed the main spar in your new plane. Take the case of the rear spar replacement. If the work was done properly An AI will return the aircraft to service. He will normally have many years of repair experiance behind him and is responsible for the airworthiness of the repair. This could be the same guy that signs your engine O/H and your annuals. If you have an IA that is trusted and the repair completed properly the aircraft will be stonger than from the factory. My thoughts larry
  13. Quote: allsmiles Any spar damage renders the airplane useless. Especially if you are unsure what the original damage was to necessitate spar repair. Simply drilling on the spar trashes the airplane. This is why, if you've noticed, Mooney welded little attachments to secure the vertical carpet piece in front of the spar under the rear passengers' legs. They did not just drill on the spar to secure the carpet. In my opinion ANY spar damage trashes the airplane. There are plenty of REAL NDH airplanes out there!
