  1. So one airport at least got hit and hit hard.
  2. I was wrong! Though it was mid 40s, but 55 it is!
  3. Correct - we do have an altitude compensating fuel pump. It's actually a bladder that controls it. So technically it's also density altitude compensating. Another reason to have the setup more rich if it had to be, as you can always lean the mixture but can't richen it unless you want to run the boost pump. -Seth
  4. No quite - part of the cooling is the cowling. The Bonanza is a bigger cowling, the Mooney is tighter. On the 310 HP Cirrus SR22 G6 the FF at TO at sea level is anything under 30gph. 29.5-29.9 or so. -Seth
  5. You are one of the last conversions. It was mid 40s. Corrected: I was wrong. 55 as stated below. -Seth
  6. Does your FF decrease as you climb or stay the same? If you have a standard pump and don't lean it you will be very rich in the climb at higher altitudes. FF decreases as you climb in the Missile
  7. I do not lean during climb. The mixture is auto leaning. My home airport is 539 feet so I consider it sea level even though it's a 500 feet higher. -Seth
  8. Seeing that the hurricane track is pretty clear at this point, anyone who wants to move their airplane out of harms way is free to use my hangar in Maryland for a few days. Understanding of course that the tropical storm will pass over my area later Saturday. Fly up here, get out of the way, and then circle back south around the storm. My hangar is at KGAI and available for the next two weeks. Its far, but your insurance company will reimburse you up to a certain amount. Anyone else want to offer anything closer? -Seth
  9. On the Missile it's a greater offset for the mid-body with the larger engine. And it works really well. I need more rudder on an M20J 200HP takeoff than I do with a M20J 300HP takeoff. -Seth
  10. I have no speed brakes on my Missile. Also 32x2 (64) and 17x2 (34) = 98 gallons. -Seth
  11. I too have a Missile. I have the Aux tanks. Get the Monroy tanks while you still can. The flexibilty in having fuel for longer trips and not having to worry about thinking about stretching a fuel situation, or tanking up on cheap fuel, it makes a difference. Best speed mod you can do for your Missile. -Seth
  12. What are the options out there for electric scooters that fit in the Mooney through the baggage door? Something small for use around a big airport or within a few miles of the airport is all I'm looking for. Maybe something like the old Razor but electric. Thanks! -Seth
  13. Really? I figured it would be smooth now. Why is it still bumpy? -Seth
  14. I stopped there in 2010 when I flew to the west coast in my former M20F. Enjoy the new runway! -Seth
  15. And for what it’s worth I change my oil every annual. I also change my oil every 25-35 hours. Some may feel that’s too soon but as noted, oil is way less expensive than the engine! -Seth
  16. Technically they can drain the oil and put it back in. But if you are paying for the labor anyway, put in new oil. -Seth
  17. That’s a typical flat rate amount. It’s not about the O2 cubic volume, it’s about a flat time it takes to hook up the tanks, watch, make sure everything is safe, etc. FBO’s/A&P’s/Aviation shops Here on the east coast around major cities charge $50-$90 flat rate for portable bottles. Depending on your brand, at Oshkosh many fill up for free. I have not yet found a dive shop that will fill around me. I do have a dive shop near FDK that will do the hydro test. -Seth
  18. You have to have military service or law enforcement training. Otherwise I would have already applied for this position!! -Seth
  19. And I still would like to land at DCA without a security guard on board who is supposed to shoot me, that I have to pay for, if I deviate from course. DSAAP program to land at DCA. -Seth
  20. Yes, a C150 crashed into the track built into the white house in the 1994, well, technically onto the the White House Grounds. Pilot died during Kamikaze attack. A gyrocopter landed on the white house grounds in 2015 to deliver mail as part of a protest. -Seth
  21. I've learned 2 are not required. So I'll likely just go with the single GI275 unless my HSI quits, and I'll leave my KI525A as it sits. However, the question is still can a single GI275 emulate GPSS or do you need a second GI275 for that (which does indeed emulate GPSS?). Thanks, -Seth
  22. Good point. However, I have made the deicision to move away from the KI256 and the vacuum system. I already have a staby vac. This is good information for those that want a backup for their vacuum run mechanisms. I plan to remove my vacuum system at some point. So I'm looking for an electric backup (can be gyro, though I'm leaning toward solid state) as a backup Attitdue Indicator - if it's a full EFIS even better. The AV20s sounds promising - but I've had some close people to me say not to do it. So more investigating for now. It would serve as the backup to my KI256 now and likely the backup to the future GI275 whenever I go and do that as the GI275 is the least expensive glass (and a nice package on top of that) that can run my King KFC200. The question becomes, can a single GI275 run GPSS? I know dual GI275's can, but can a single GI275 do this? If I need to get 2 GI275's it's going to change my opinion on what I do in the meantime (meaning maybe just a used Dynon D2 or a Dynon D3 which I'd then sell) vs installing another AI in the cockpit which would later get pulled out. Then again, even with two GI275's, if I had an earlier backup AI or even Backup EFIS, I can always move it to the pax side so a right seat could have something better in thier view. Thanks to all for the suggestions. -Seth
  23. That’s real neat info. A 6 on the Pre-J mid bodies dubbed the M20H. Good to know more Mooney history. -Seth
  24. Yeah, as we texted Scott, it sounds like you need to increase the full power takeoff fuel flow just a bit. The cooling effect of the fuel will help. You'll also be able to climb faster (120-130 knots) and thus get to altitude faster so you'll burn similar fuel, if not less during the climb, and then get better "mileage" at your cruise settings. anywhere from 11-18 GPH depending on LOP or ROP speed 170-190 TAS. -Seth
