  1. I´ll come over in may just for the cheap gas ;-) I used to fly a lot to Jersey with a King Air. Is that hotel near Corbiere Lighthouse still open. I would like to go there next time Thx Axel
  2. Hi guys, we have the same probleme. A Century IIB. has no alt hold capability. The budget solution is a STEC 30 ALT. It provides alt hold only and is a stand alone system. The STEC 60PSS is more sophisiticated. It has ALT Hold , VS Hold and can follow a glideslope. You can add an autotrim on top otherwise you will have to trim manually which is no big deal. The system tells you what it wants. 60PSS is as well a stand alone system. Anyway it is such a simple and old system and I find the price ridicolous and decided to hold the alt myself. i do enough flying with George ;-) Axel
  3. Axel Herbst, I have a M20J based in EDRF Germany ( near Ramstein Airbase), I have 2 kids and a wife who all enjoy flying. When I am not flying the Mooney I fly my Piper J3C Cub . For living I am a Captain and Technical Pilot on a Boeing 747-400 Freighter for Cargolux Airlines in Luxembourg ( www.cargolux.com ). Come to the states about every month which is great for shopping Mooney parts. Any Mooniac visiting Germany drop me a note maybe we can arrange some flying for you. There is a world on the other side of the pawn.
  4. Guys, you should come to Germany ;-) We are not so blessed with long runways as you in the states. We operate our M20J out of a 1900 x 50 strip without a probleme. Just be aware of your weight and for landing to fly your appropriate approach speed. The shortest one I did was last summer. A small island called helgoland in the north sea with a rwy length of 1570ft. Easy stuff if your weight and speed are correct. Try it out on a long runway. No need to get excited. Happy landings
  5. Nice bird, when you plan a visit in Germany let me know. I can give you some good recommendations where to go. Axel
  6. Raising the flaps during your landing flare is a bad technique. You should focus on the landing and not fiddle around with any switches . The secret is to trim the airplane properly and fly the correct speed. We fly our M20J out of a 1600ft concrete strip. The secret is have abeam thr in the downwing flaps for T/O turning base gear down, turning final full flaps and Vref. Never force the plane to touch down. Better to Go Around if the flare is too long. Takes practise but is no rocket science Axel ( short field specialist)
  7. Thx for info, that is what I thought. Lot´s of work to make your way to it.
  8. Talking about voltage regulator, I want to change ours on our M20J. Does anyone have some good tips on how to do this in a most efficient way. THX
