  3. I just sold my Bravo with G 500 and GTN 750. It was a great plane but after owning an Ovation with TKS before the bravo I too am looking to go back to the Ovation. Just don't need the turbo and maintenance of exhaust. The G1000 with WAAS and the 700 autopilot is a must. There is nothing like having everything you need neatly right in front of you. I had the Avidyne system in a Columbia and loved the big screen. The G500 is just too small in my opinion. So maybe I'll see you on the road shopping the same plane. Enjoy, it's all fun.

  6. Don't get discouraged John, I too have been in aviation for over 30 yrs. This airplane will make someone happy. It has just about everything except TKS and AC. The reason for me to sell is I need TKS living in the great lakes area and just can't justify spending another 35 to $40,000 to add it after spending almost $70,000 on the panel. Not sure yet what will replace it since having a panel like this one has spoiled me. What twinns are you shopping? I had several over the years and found the T310R to be my favorite. I owned 2 different 310's over 20 years and found them to be the perfect family machine with storage space everywhere, lots of room, and good performance. Plus, now you can buy a lot of twin for the dollar. Keep us posted, we enjoy aviation.

  9. I own an airport and know of several airplanes that have sat for years then someone gets them out and going again with little or no problems. I here about the corrosion issues on Mooney space all the time and how many would never buy an airplane that sat but I have never witnessed the problem. Maybe location has a lot to do with this. We had a 400 Comanchee that sat for 5 or 6 years and never moved. Got a fresh anual and went back to flying. 200+ hours later and still no problems. My point is, I think that there are a lot of planes that sit more than you think.

  11. I'm a new TLS/Bravo owner and would like to purchase a maintenance manual and parts manual. What I have found on-line is not current. Any ideas? Mine is a "96" model

  15. Something you need to know. It costs a lot of money to maintain an airport and run an FBO. I know because I built my own 20 yrs ago and still have it today. Building costs, insurance, utility bills, property taxes ($30,000.00yr) cost of fuel system, snow removal, grounds upkeep, ect...We don't charge ramp fees but do parking fees. Why does it seam that once a pilot buys an airplane they think everything else is owed to them. Example: a 10 x 20 (200sq ft) storage building at the local facility is $150.00 month and they are full, but I get called names for charging $235.00 for a 42 x 32 (1344 sq ft) insulated box hangar, or how about the local garage that gets $95.00 hr for working on your car but $65.00hr for an educated IA is too much. The next time you walk into the FBO to use the restroom, ask yourself who makes this available to you. It all costs money and without the FBO we wouldn't have any services. This is the biggest reason we are losing so many airports every year. It's time we as pilots support our local FBO's. It is getting more and more difficult each year to survive and I truly beleive that Most FBO's are doing their best to be fair and keep your business.

  17. I don't know if it's an option for you but the GMX 200 I have in my Ovation is much faster than the MX20 I had in my last airplane. Also be aware that there are differnt units. Some you can't add weather, traffic or jeppview. If I recall ther are 3 different units available. the basic being just a map
  18. I have the GDL69 for weather and plays on the GMX200. Works great. I like the big picture. Depending on which MX20 you have, the 330 will play traffic on it as well
  19. Speeds like that are not that uncommon in the Ovation
  20. I recomend radiant tube heater. A propane tank can be set outside the building and your suplier will put you on a re-fill schedule automaticly. Radiant heaters heat the object (you, airplane, ect..) not the air so makes it very easy to show up and turn up the heat and almost instantly be comfortable. I have aprox. 30 heated units at my airport and half have these and are liked the best. Easy to install and cheap to run. Now the whole airplane is kept at a decent temp prolonging the life of all the componets, not just the engine. (think gyros, pumps, fluids, ect..)
  21. Not Christmas eve but is holiday travel. I flew from Zeeland Michigan to Nashville Tenn. to Pittsburg Pen. back to Zeeland today to pick up the family for a holiday get-together. 2 aproaches, snow and wind but what a way to travel.
  22. Parker, I am being told that this switch is also a breaker and Mooney specific. The amp size is different than the other switches so you are limited to this one switch
  23. Anyone else having trouble finding parts? I have called every MSC I can find with no luck. They are all telling me the same thing - no parts and no factory support- I'm looking for a new avionics master swtch for my Ovation, part# 930023-313 and am told it's not available and no substitute. What is everyone else doing for parts?
  24. Blue Sun Air in Zeeland (Z98) not a msc but they maintain several Mooneys, my Ovation being one of them. Very thorough and close to MKG
