  1. Thanks for the upgrade. Hope the donation helped.
  2. Swisstrax. Easy to install. I did a 7000 foot hangar in one day with my 12 year old son. Zero maintenance and covers all of the sins in the slab.
  3. Quote: Flymu2 What is "melting" on the cowl?
  4. I saw that the cowl is melting just like mine. That is my most irritating issue with the Eagle
  5. I used the 3M leading edge tape and it worked out well. I used the clear. It has been on about 500 to 600 hours. Still looks fine and stops all of the chipping.
  6. I talked with Kristy and she now says that we can set up somewhere at the end of the taxiway and people can depart the show early. I don't know if that makes anyone think differently. If that spurs any interest in a group getting together let me know.
  7. I have used both Avionics Unlimited and Select Avionics. They both did good work. Avionics Unlimited, however, really takes the prize -- they have delivered the plane to me without a squawk after the GTN 750/650 install. Talk to Johnny Blain at Avionics Unlimited. Or talk to Greg at Select Avionics. You will like either of them.
  8. Here is the rest of the information: Mr. Lipper, Thank you for your interest in the 4th Annual Aeros & Autos event. It will be held at Ellington Airport on May 12th and will benefit the USO and Texas Lions Camp. The set-up this year will be completely different than the past 3 years. Two of Ellington’s three runways will be closed during the event. Runway 17L-35R will hold the static aircraft, car show, and vendors. Right across from it, Runway 4-22 will hold the Houston Half Mile Shootout (The Houston Mile) where car or motorcycle owners can race the clock, one vehicle at a time, down the runway. If you would like to bring a static aircraft for display or reserve a vendor space, please give me a call. To aid in visibility of your vendor space or aircraft, we will attempt to mix them in with the car show vehicles as much as possible. We look forward to seeing you there. www.fly2houston.com/aerosandautos Kristy Dowdell Airport Operations Coordinator Ellington Airport 713-847-4213 (ofc) 713-560-4673 (cell)
  9. If anyone is game to do this again this year please let me know -- its in about 3 weeks. You will have to be there about 7:00 a.m. and this year you are stuck until the show ends at 4:30. They say that we cannot come and go during the show which is kind of a bummer. But it is a good show and this year they are going to have a 1/2 mile shootout for the cars. IF anyone is interested please PM me or call me at 713 253 5382. Eric
  10. I did the inspection in the same time it took to read this email chain.
  11. I have the whole enchilada from Garmin and like it. With that said, and even though i have the gtn 750/650 they offer little in additional safety compared to the G500. The G500 with synthetic vision is an awesome tool in a minimums approach. There is nothing more comforting than to line up the hsi get it on the glideslope and then see the airport show up on the synthetic vision. As for Garmin v. Avidyne they both probably get you to the same place and I bet that the installed costs are in the ballpark with Garmin, undoubtedly, being higher. My favorite part of being in the Garmin fold is that they seem to have industry saturation so as I have flown around the country I have always been able to find an avionics tech in the market that knows the units. Also, I suppose that with more market saturation the probability of long time support goes up. Finally, the economics of any aviation upgrade is usually terrible but everytime I fly I get to play with the units. I had Avionics Unlimited in Conroe put mine in and they are absolutely the best avionics shop I have ever dealt with. Every time I have picked up the plane from them there have been zero squawks -- that is pretty rare in avionics. And, Avionics Unlimited always has a fair price.
  12. All: Last year I arranged a group of Mooney owners to display at Autos and Aeros. The event is Saturday, May 12, 2012. I would like to get a head count to see if we have any interest within a few weeks. It is a great event and there is no charge (in my memory) for display aircraft. The website is at www.fly2houston.com/aerosandautos.
  13. I had the problem with mine where it was tripping the breaker and, believe it or not, it was the light that supplied light to the gear up indicator in the floor. It would intermittently blow. After we took the belly off the plane we found that the wire going to the light had a little chafe. Replacement of a few feet of the wire and problem solved. It was annoying until we diagnosed it.
  14. Concorde is a no brainer. I had a Concorde go bad because I left the master on and they still replaced it for free.
