  1. I picked up my plane today from Don Maxwell in Longview, Texas where I had a Screaming Eagle conversion done. It was an awesome change for the plane as it upped the HP to 310 from 244. It also swapped a two blade for a three blade prop. It climbs at least 300 to 500 fpm better. It also has an extremely shorter groundroll. Lastly, the three blade prop is a very effective brake. While it was there Don took care of several other small issues, including a tank leak that I had posted about earlier, for a very fair price. I just wanted the community to know that it was a good experience. N56FM
  2. It looks like I am going to take the plane to Don Maxwell this weekend. I will update everyone on my efforts.
  3. I am an attorney in Houston, Texas and I am pretty new to the Mooney fold. I have been in general aviation twice and I came back a while ago when I got tired of taking my shoes off in the security line. I used to fly a Baron and picked the Mooney because it does most of what the Baron does with a far lower fuel burn and maintenance cost. My airplane is probably unusual for an Eagle because it has airconditioning. I am probably going to get the Midwest Mooney Screaming Eagle conversion for it in December.
  4. This is an often discussed issue. I have a seep in my left tank from one rivet. I never see anything on the ground but I do get a blue stain near the rivet. Right now I am not real motivated to fix because it is not a safety of flight issue but I expect that it will get worse. I have heard that Don Maxwell in Longview is the best place in Texas to go to the doctor on this but if any of you have other experiences with the repair let me know.
  5. Thanks for putting this up on the net. Mapa's email system is just too cumbersome.
