  1. Ditto. Its a no brainer from Dallas

  3. Today my Eagle backfired (or popped) one time when I was starting up. She had been sitting on the ramp for about 8 hours. The plane started well -- almost on the first rotation. Don Maxwell did mags on her at the last annual so presumably its not a spark issue. What causes a backfire? In my car days I usually thought it was a timing issue but the plane seems to be performing just fine. I climbed out of Dallas this afternoon at full power all the way to 8000 without a hiccup.
  4. Quote: flyboy0681 They said that's what they gave you but it's just like trading in your car. They quote you a high trade in value but they are merely giving you a greater discount on the new equipment. I got what I consider a high trade in value for my old, rusted out antiquated early 80's era radios, certainly much more than I see them selling for on eBay in better condition, but know they lowered the price of the equipment and install to make it seem like I got a lot for them.
  5. Watch Ebay for my 530W/430W from Avionics Unlimited at CXO. They will be out there probably on June 6, 2011. My units are 20 months old and still in warranty. They gave me $8500/$6000 trade on the units so I suspect they will try and get a 10% profit or so.
  6. Left my deposit today for a GTN750, GTN650 and the remote audio panel.

  8. According to the press release from Sun & Fun it looks like now the G1000 guys really need a G2000
  9. I need one because its cool.
  10. Cris, welcome to the ownership of mooneys.
  11. All: Now that we got primed with a fun event last weekend I have another event for ya'll to consider — it's called Aeros & Autos and is at Ellington Field — here is a link. http://www.fly2houston.com/aerosandautos. This is a big event and generally attracts 150 to 200 cars. I would suspect at the event last year that the attendance was in multiple thousands of people range. The aircraft display, since this is where all of the NASA planes are based, is also impressive. You have a chance to see a huge array of the planes that your tax dollars have supplied. In addition, the Coast Guard also has a presence there so they had several helicopters that you could explore your way through if you need something beyond a fixed wing. Last year we had at B-17, a B-25 and a T-6 Texan that were giving rides through the Galveston Museum of Flight. I flew in the B-17 and my ears are still ringing. And since Ellington is home to two flight schools there will likely be a Grumman Tiger, a group of Cheetah's and a few Cirri. I also remember that there was a, E Model Mooney that was used by US Customs and was painted in a camouflage scheme. If you are interested in coming in please let me know as the Airport would like to estimate our interest as soon as reasonably possible. The Airport would like you there by 8:00 a.m. at the latest (plan 7:30) and you will generally need to stay there till 4:00 p.m. If the ramp is crowded with people it will be difficult to depart early. There will be several vendors there serving food and drinks so you don't have to worry about hunger or thirst. I look forward to hearing from you. Eric Lipper (713) 253 5382
  12. Becca, I was the first tenant in slip C-7 back when it used to be called Lafayette Landing and managed by Niels Daughberg. That slip had some great parties. Everyone else, I posted a few of the many photos from the event this weekend at Hobby f/k/a Houston Municipal Airport a/k/a Howard Hughes Field (for 9 months).
