  1. Mustang maintenance does all of my work. They are outstanding. Highly recommend.
  2. That's a great idea, thanks! However, I'm looking not only to have it at hand, but also to sort of put my Mooney back to "factory spec" for a lot of things. A nice new visor with sharp printing would look a lot better than an old worn out one.
  3. The "cruise power schedule" on my sun visor is worn off. Would be handy to have right there instead of diving into the iPad. Is anyone aware of an existing replacement? The actual visor is out of stock at LASAR (I've got a J model.) The visor itself is in excellent condition, just some of the silk screening has worn off over the years. If there isn't one already, I may look into having a bunch made up, say white printed on clear vinyl.
  4. I would not fly it until you get the leak fixed. Its one thing to throw 8 quarts in it if your shop is 20 minutes away, it's another to try and fly 6 hours. I mean, it's gotta be coming from SOMEWHERE. Where is the plane currently? If you're in Alberta I may be able to help.
  5. Awesome thanks fellas!
  6. 1991 201 MSE. In cruise, with the plane properly trimmed “hands off” at around 150 knots, I looked back and noticed the elevator horns were sticking up into the slipstream a bit. Not sure if this is normal, or abnormal, honestly it’s the first time I’ve looked back there during flight. C of G was fairly forward, just me on board and about 20 gallons of fuel. Has anyone else seen that position before? Again, not sure it’s abnormal, but just something I noticed. Photo attached.
  7. Mine was shipped in a container along with 3 other M20J’s from Seoul to Vancouver. The wings and tails had to be removed to be containerized. No idea how much the shipping cost, as I purchased it after it was reassembled and recertified in Canada.
  8. No, that one is HL1064. Was written in off a couple years ago. I bought the sister ship, HL1063.
  9. I think he's referring to the gear warning horn switch. You can hear / feel a click as the throttle is advanced past about a quarter inch. 8 seconds is an eternity, so is 4 for that matter. The POH says to only run the pump long enough to "establish fuel pressure" which is about 2-3 seconds at the most.
  10. Another thing I noticed from watching youtube videos, is people tend to "shove" the mixture full in as soon as the engine catches. Move it SLOWLY, think 3-4 seconds to reach full rich. There's no rush. Shoving it in causes the engine to stumble, and then it revs to the moon once it clears itself out. Not what you want to do on an engine before it builds oil pressure.
  11. He’s on the forum here as Greg Watts.
  12. Thats a pretty valid reason to go with a 3 blade in my opinion. Thats why they make different props, to suit different use cases.
  13. This. I got a 4 pack of power banks pretty cheap too. They fit easily in the flight bag and last a LONG time.
  14. This aircraft was previously registered C-FUNE and spent most of its early life in Toronto, Canada.
  15. Who did your interior? Love it.
  16. What's that fuel filter thing used for?
  17. Twist it. Anything below about 90* is a good rule of thumb.
  18. Did the MT remove the RPM zone restriction? What changes did you notice for climb performance, noise, top speed, etc?
  19. The logic is flawed I’m afraid. A less restrictive filter does not mean inferior filtration. Some, like the Donaldson, use a different design in the way the pleats are arranged, allowing more surface area on the media. Imagine a screen door, vs a screen on a small window. The holes in the screen are the same size, thus filtering the same size particles, but the door will flow a lot more air through it because it’s got a larger surface area.
  20. I've got a Donaldson in my J. I believe it's actually referenced in the POH as a factory option.
  21. I have seen some "Q-Tip" props before, the ones that look like they're bent from a prop strike. Although, I can't recall if they were J or K models. But for sure 2 blade. Not sure if that helps you, but I know some different options are out there.
  22. I can, but I'm in western Canada so unfortunately shipping back and forth might make it cost or time prohibitive.
  23. First stage of flaps is VERY common on most aircraft types I’ve flown, from Pipers, to King Airs, to transport category jets. Even I admit, I had to wrap my head around the fact that the Mooney is a “gear before flaps” airplane. Perhaps this is why the idea meets with some resistance from new Mooney owners?
  24. Try opening the storm window and see if it allows the door to be pulled in a bit. Might be hard to tell if it’s any quieter because it’s noisy with the storm window open, but worth a shot to see if it makes a big difference. Also, how’s the adjustment on the latch pin at the top of the door frame? You can pull it in a bit by loosening the jam nut and giving it a turn.
  25. Saw this one on Controller awhile back, thought it was a really nice airplane. Good luck with the sale!
