  1. That's where I think I'm headed. The cost savings to drop down to a GNC 215 isn't that much considering what the whole package is going to run.
  2. Where did you mount the analog indicator?
  3. I don't know what to do about it, except he managed to make me extra paranoid about it
  4. The seller of my plane had an FBO damage the nose gear when towing. Made it a big point to make sure I never let anyone tow the plane.
  5. Where I'm at so far: G3x Touch PFD w/ EIS G5 Standby GTN 750xi GPS/NAV/COMM/MFD GFC 500 Autopilot What do I do about the secondary GPS(?)/NAV(?)/COMM GNC 215 NAV/COMM $5,295.00 List (really wish the remote mount was available for certified aircraft) GNC 355 GPS/COMM $7,895.00 List GTN 650Xi GPS/NAV/COMM/MFD $13,795.00 List I'm used to constantly tuning two VFRs along my XC (CFI was real old school, and CFII reinforced it) so I'm struggling to imagine not having that functionality. I get that VORs are being decommissioned, but we'll still have them. The G3x has an integrated (VFR) GPS. Do I need a second GPS Navigator or should I save the dough and put in a GNC 215? What is the GNC 355 get me over the 215 that's worth the extra $? Would it be better to have redundant NAV vs single NAV and three GPS? Am I going to regret not buying the GTN 650xi?
  6. I was originally thinking about doing the 7” portrait but now kinda wondering if I should skip it altogether
  7. Because to keep the Avidyne everything becomes Frankenstein The panel is an integrated package working together PFD, GPS Nav/Com, Autopilot When I start reading about hacks and secret settings that will get the IFD to work with x, y, or z is when I’m out
  8. Lol great people and his RV-10 is awesome!
  9. Beautiful panel thanks for sharing! Seeing this I do really like the dedicated EIS - will have to see what Garmin updates before I start cutting How do you like the GFC on top? Not to stir things up, I've seen these top of stack and bottom of stack and trying to get a sense of the difference.
  10. I must be looking in the wrong place to find this - how did you fit 2x 10" G3x???
  11. The 750 has a lot of real estate, looks like a nice interface for management. With the 540 I have now, it's feels like it would fill most of the MFD functionality Can you use the 500 PFD to select freq, baro, etc...? That's a really nice feature I've seen on the G3x.
  12. You might not want to know...
  13. Do you have a dedicated 275 for EIS or do you use that as your standby as well?
  14. It would be nice if our panel was just a little bigger! Remote audio interface and transponder feel like a must just to get more room The right seat pilot comment makes sense, do you find you use that MFD when it's just you in the plane?
  15. Helps a lot thanks Rick!
  16. Current: M20R Ovation 2 DX mostly original. JPI EDM 730 was added replacing the 700, Avidyne 540/440 stack replaced the Garmin Want: Large PFD & GFC 500 autopilot Questions: G500 TXi w/ 275 Standby or G3X w/ G5 Standby - I haven't figured out what the tradeoffs between these displays & standbys are Integrated EIS or EDM 900/930 - hearing that Garmin's EIS isn't what you might hope for vs the EDM GTN 750Xi seems like a no brainer - is it worth spending the $ on a GTN650Xi or step down to a GNC 215 or GTR 205 Should I even think about adding a 9" portrait mode MFD for the right seat Really curious what you think is worth it, and what isn't. Don't want to waste money, but don't want to wish I did something different after the fact. Thanks!
  17. Anyone have a wiring diagram for a precise flight 2000 handy???
  18. I'm going to head out to the field tomorrow and see what I can figure out (starting with what exactly I have).
  19. Thank you for posting this diagram! That picture is is a link to a previous post on the forums - not my plane.
  20. I’m assuming/hoping/praying it’s the switch. How to I get a copy of the service manual? I’d probably go ahead and order a replacement switch just to have.
  21. This morning during pre-flight the speed brakes would not deploy. I cycled the breaker in the plane with no change. Pressing the button on the yoke did not result with anything happening (like the speed brakes even twitching). I've been looking for things I can do to test & troubleshoot myself (i.e. I'm hoping it's something simple like a faulty switch) but haven't found much. The brakes were serviced ~200 hours ago. Anything I should be doing before turning this into a bigger project?
  22. I understand the amount of work and the time required, just a bitter pill to swallow.
  23. The counter to me wanting to do the same thing to my panel. That’s a long time to be grounded.
